Well done Jonathan for winning first prize! A copy of the Movie boxed edition of the LotR will soon be on it's way to you, also a change to rules means Raptor now gets second prize, a copy of the Lord of the Rings PC game will also soon be with you.
Thanks folks, a very enjoyable competition and great Pumpkins!
Thread: PUMPKIN PIE! Let's seem 'em!

Anyway, this sounds like fun. Now for all those people out there who do not know when Halloween is celebrated this year ( and for those who have been told but have a short memory

Soon! You mean the end of the month is coming already? Where's my rent!!!!!!

That sounds wonderful

I can't wait to get my pumpkin and start sculpturing it! I might try and do a LotR themed one
In fact this year I promised myself an attempt to make pumpkin soup from it's innards once removed. It always seems such a waste to throw it all away

Pumpkin soup?!! Please tell me that's a joke. Oh dear god, please let it be a joke!

You don't make anything but roasted pumpkin seeds with the innards of a pumpkin; you use the pulp from the steamed or baked shell minus the skin, for cooking, and it is best to use a sugar pumpkin for cooking as they are sweeter, smaller, and redder than their larger orange cousins that are sold mainly for the making Jack O' Lanterns. Also never use a pumpkin for cooking, that previously has been used for a Jack O' Lantern, as it has already started to decay and you shouldn't take any chances with it.

I've never even tasted Pumpkin pie!!!! What's it like??

oooohhh.../me loves pupkin pie..
Have you ever tasted sweet potatoe pie? Pumpkin pie tastes exactly the same!

I never tasted pumpkin pie either, but pumpkin soup sure is delicious. Go ahead and try it Taz, it's well worth it. You usually end up with tons of soup, enough to feed your whole family for a year, but it's a very good soup.
Over here we don't usually celebrate Halloween (though a lot of people started to take over the American habit). So I don't think I'll join in the contest. Looking forward to seeing all of yours though.

I LOVE pumpkin pie. One of the best foods ever. Yummm...also...had this really really amazingly good ice cream over this summer - it was called 'indian pudding' but it tasted exactly like pumpkin pie.
No pumpkin carving for me this year, though...
Are you all getting dressed up? I've been a mouse for like 5 years running...haha...figure I'll most likely keep the tradition going.

Yay! Pumpkin piccys! Such a cool idea! Maybe we should scan in pictures of ourselves in our halloween costumes aswell.

It's really hard to tell from that picture, Red, but my guess is it's an Uruk-Hai o' lantern

I just love the way these things wink in unison.

Is Rednell the only one who sent in a picture?? Such a cool pumpkin deserves a bit of competition!
It makes me want to make a halloween apple! (in lack of a pumpkin) *hehe* Maybe I'll do, I'm allergic to them so maybe mutilating an apple gives me some revenge for them making my throat itchy. Maybe an orange will be easier, at leas I can eat what I scrape out.

Rednell has currently provided the only competition entry yet hopefully I will get some more otherwise there is going to be a very UNHAPPY FRAGGLE walking around the boards.

Thanks Taz!WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!I'm off butchering pumpkins!!!!!!

What do you say, Taz? Halloween Orange could work, right?

I'm sure we can allow that, heck why not any fruit as long as it is LotR themed

When you look at Rednell's Uruk-hai in the smaller sized formats, you can't see much of the facial features, so click on the picture to blow it up to as large a picture that you can. Nice carving Nell. And that white hand is the crowning touch.

OMG - my friend from Aus told me she never tried a pumpkin pie!!! I nearly fell off my chair. She said and I quote "We really aren't PIE people down here."
I didn't know Americans were "PIE people" per say - (okay, so there's the song and the movie, and even a company... but...)
I love pumpkin pies, tarts, empanadas, cheesecake (yes, pumpkin cheesecake!!!) all topped with REAL HOMEMADE WHIPPED CREAM.
By the way, I am making my chocolate truffles again this year - already have like 5 dozen preordered from people/friends - and I would be happy to share the recepie for them here in a chocolate party...

Eh-hem. I beg to differ! We are a nation of meat-pie worshipers. We are PIE people, we are just not pumpkin-pie people. Not that there is anything wrong with pumpkin pie, (I have never tried it myself, but sounds yummy - love pumpkin soup) it just hasn't caught on down here.

Um... WOW? We have had a new entry and it is... impressive? To say the least

Wow, that's one cool pumpkin.
I went as far as fetching my camera to take a picture of some mouldy thing someone had left by a roadside. When I got back though, someone had driven a lorry over it.
