That is "I want out" by Stratovarius.....but alot of people have done that cover....like Sonata ArcticaBig Smile Smilie

I really like Metallica, Stratovarius, Iron Maiden and Scorpions and Twisted SistersBig Smile Smilie
Well Aul’, I'm sorry to say so, but you are wrong in the artist, the song "I want out" was written originaly by Helloween, later it was covered by a lot of groups, even by Hammerfall. But the song is correct. Pick a hard one Wink Smilie

I also like Metallica, Satratovarius and Iron Maiden, but I haven't heared any of Scorpions and Twisted sisters. Do you like Hammerfall? or Blind Guardian?
Oh yeah....the cover was one by Stratovarius and Sonata ArcticaTongue Smilie but the title was correctTongue Smilie......oh well....but I do not like Hammerfall but I like Blind Guardian though.....
Yes, Blind Guardian rocks. Have you ever heared Zonata? or Shaman?
And by the way, who is posting the next song?
No never heard of them.....oh sorry.....here it goesTongue Smilie

Quote:
You've got the wings of a fallen angel
You offer peace if they praise your name
You live your life taking everything you can get
Look down, time to fly!

Life on the streets, you gamble with your own life
Only two things: you live or you die
Looking for fight, punishing guilty ones
You're playing Judge Dredd all the time

Always trying to make things right
Sometimes problems just multiply
This peacemaker will see no crime
Bad guys win though it won't seem right

Eating a hotdog on the corner of Main and some street
You are a disciple of your own gun
No one to talk, you say "I am the only one
but God I wonder I won't see the sun"

It's raining heavily and you don't have a dime
We see welfare, spend it all in one time
Must save your bullets, using them all the time
Yes, I am happy in...

Always trying to make things right
Sometimes problems just multiply
This peacemaker will see no crime
Bad guys win though it won't seem right

You've got your fingers burning
How come your gun is turning?
You make them pray and then you calmly blow them away
Taking rebels to the street, no matter who you're gonna meet
because Everybody knows that he is..

Always trying to make things right
Sometimes problems just multiply
This peacemaker will see no crime
Bad guys win though it won't seem right
Easy one Aul’. The song is called Peacemaker by Sonata Arctica.
Wink Smilie IndeedBig Smile Smilie
who gets to go now?, oh well, i'll put one up, here goes.

Overkill, enough is enough.
There is nothing left of me to devour.
You've had your fill, i"m all i have left.
What can stop your hunger for power.
'Cos u took advantage of things that I said.
Now the feeling is dead...........................
Hi there Rhodry and welcome to PT!!!
I hope you will enjoy this place as much as I am!!

Anyway it’s Mandos turn....otherwise called NamoTongue Smilie

hehehe

but just out of curiosity what song is that?
The song is called "The Ultimate Sin" by Ozzy my friend Aul’.
Ok here it goes mine.

Quote:
[Part 1]

So adept was unspoken Man
At dusting ledgers of the seraphim
That Lilith swept across the broken land
In a whirl of lust to pleasure him

This bland Adam, a reaper of the sun
In bone dry season, for Eve was busy sucking thumbs
Pricked in rosy gardens as he spattered into shells
And ran with morning fauna; His mastiffs and gazelle

Breathless as the wind
Adam, prowled, fell foul to Sin
But not before She spread Her grin
Across His silent lips
At crack of day, though what was shame?
The raptor's nest wherein they lay
Bore witness to Her soft parade
Of fingers come to grips

His undivine attention won
She deftly spun
From 'neath His thrusts to writhe above
In ecstasy
Pendulous She swung
As if her limbs imbibed His tongue
To spill, as with His rod
The secret name of God

But no seed passed those fruitful lips
For fearing Her who grasped, He slit
Her throat from ear to where She fled
With tail and blood between Her legsss...
Hmmmmmm........can’t put my finger on it.....Rhodry?
What do you mean Mahal?
Any guess about it?
Nope sorry....can’t guess......are you gonna print a new song or should Rhodry take this one? or Should I?Wink Smilie

I got a nice song on my mind so you decide Mandy NamyBig Smile Smilie
What is it, with all this wus-rock?
So you give up. I thought Asteroth was going to figure this one out. Is Serpent Touge by Cradle of Filth. As no one ot this one is my turn to post another one, but I'll pass this time, I want to see the song you talk about Aul’.
Aule is away for a month, so I'll nick the helm, as I actually knew who it was but refused to participate with the biblical toss rock! It's true ask Squirrel.

"And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I
don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime."
"I never said I was frightened of dying."

Pink Floyd-The Great Gig in The Sky Big Smile Smilie. How about Rhodry posting one now.
yeah, it's true, he did know, I didn't, and their former Guitar player is an old mate of mine. I never listened to their stuff though, can't stand them. Thank the lord he left, apparently he's doing a new band with a couple of guys I know that might be quite good. He was a fantastic guitar player if nothing else.

Oh, btw, don't know this one either.
You gotta be kiding, and how is the new band going to be called?

Plastic, since you are here and I already digured Ross' song, why don't you post one.

Btw nice avatar Ross
Quote:

Cheers Namo.

In that case since he can't actually put the lyrics for his own songs up, I guess it's by the residents! Wink Smilie
Hardly very metal is it Ross? Hang on here's one...
Quote:

My mother was a witch, she was burned alive.
Thankless little bitch, for the tears I cried.
Take her down now, don't want to see her face
All blistered and burnt, can't hide my disgrace.

Twenty-seven, everyone was nice.
Gotta see 'em make 'em pay the price.
See their bodies out on the ice.
Take my time.

And get the right band or I'll be very cross.
I thought it was Metallica, but after some research...
It was originally performed by DiamondHead.

And I almost forgot the name of the song. It is "Am I Evil?"
Oh well done Namo, and now you know that it was Diamond Head (from the album "Am I Evil?", which is fantastic) and you can go out and buy lots of diamondhead, and get some good Metal in your collection Wink Smilie *giggles inanely* Your go...
Try this one.

Quote:
Outside on a winter's night when the rain begins to fall
There's a chill in the air and the howl of the wolves and the rain beats at the door
The seven kings will ride on the wind up towards the mountain's high
And the only sound that will break the air is the warrior's bitter cry

When the dawn of the a new sun will see the day and the strongest hearts grow old
And the warrior stands on the top of the hill in the snow...

Dark night with a glimmering light in the distance up ahead
In the forest they dwell with a misty spell no one hears what once was said
And the eagles fly through the clouds and the earth bleeds dark and cold
When the voices of men will ring out again all creation shall unfold

When the colour of night will fade to light leaves the mysteries unfold
And the warrior stands on the top of the hill in the snow...

And we're standing one and all fighting till we fall hoping for a better day
And the we're never giving in until we find the words to say

Burning starfire, shine in the sky
For the lives of great men who stands by your side
When the night falls on we will rise
For no lost souls will live on forever
Give up???
Since it appears no one else is going to get it, I took the liberty and cheated. Then I thought about it and cheating is what ruined that other guess-the-song game and so I'm not going to answer.

I would, however, like to play. So I'm going to put another up. It's pretty easy... I could get obscure but that just ruins the flow of the game, doesn't it?

Quote:
Even though it's reached new heights
I rather like the restless nights
it makes me wonder, makes me think
there's more to this, I'm on the brink

It's not the fear of what's beyond
it's just that I might not respond
I have an interest, almost craving
would I like to get too far in?

Can't be all coincidence
too many things are evident
you tell me you're an unbeliever
spiritualist
well me, I'm neither

Wouldn't you like to know the truth of what's out there?
To have the proof?
And find out just which side you're on...
Where would you end
In Heaven or in Hell?

I typed all of this from memory so it might not be totally correct. Most of it is, though.
I sell my soul if that's not Iron Madien. Infinite dreams I think.
My my, LadyBlueAutomnSky must be a Rock Chick. Big Smile Smilie
I guess she is. The song is Infinite Dreams by, as LadyBlueAutomnSky said, by Iron Maiden. And if anyone wants to know, the song I posted is called Starfire by DragonForce.
That's what I call lucky Namo. They don't have the DragonForce CD in any of the shops here... all I've got from them is Valley of the Damned and the CD lyrics... I can't even download anything. I was lucky enough to hear Disciples of Babylon once though... just once saddly... :/

Here is a classic :

Tonight I wanna give it all to you
In the darkness
There's so much I wanna do
And tonight I wanna lay it at your feet
'Cause girl, I was made for you
And girl, you were made for me

I was made for loving you, baby
You were made for loving me
And I can't get enough of you, baby
Can you get enough of me

Tonight I wanna see it in your eyes
Feel the magic
There's something that drives me wild
And tonight, we're gonna make it all come true
'Cause girl, you were made for me
And girl, I was made for you

I was made for loving you, baby
You were made for loving me
And I can't get enough of you, baby
Can you get enough of me

I was made for lovin' you, baby
You were made for lovin' me
And I can give it all to you, baby
Can you give it all to me

I was made
You were made
And I can't get enough
No I can't get enough...

[Edited on 25/6/2003 by LadyBlueAutomnSky]
I was made for loving you by Kiss, by I'm not sure if Kiss is the real postAuthorID, if it isn't and I'm wrong then I don't know...

BTW is **** ed considered as a bad word?
about 3 on the scale between 1 and 10, but not considered nice in polite discussion.

i'm pretty sure it's an origanal by kiss Namo.
Okay, this one is ever so slightly tougher. Then again, it might be REALLY tough. Depends on how much you like prog-metal.

Quote:
10 p.m., I feel the rain coming down
My face feels the wet, my mind the storm
Flashing lights as people race to find shelter from the pour
Moving silent through the streets, they're mine
They're mine
I'm sorry Prog, I don't lisent to much Prog-Metal, I'm more like a Power Metal lover. I don't know that song... Maybe I've heared the group's name because I have a friend that is just fanatic of Prog Metal, but I don't know that song...

Quote:

But if it is in the name of a song or something like that, is it necessary to put the ** or is it just to be polite.
The song is Suite Sister Mary from "Operation: mindcrime" by Queensryche. One of the best albums in all metal, IMHO.

I've always felt there was a fine line between prog and power metal. Come to think of it, there's a fine line between progressive music and ALL other music when you consider that one of the primary attributes of prog is that it incorporates elements form any and all genres. Okay... enough babbling.

This one's for you Namo. It's power metal, so I expect you to get it Tongue Smilie

In your private chamber you're all alone
Well earned silver pieces falling to the floor
The flame of the candle casting movement to the wall

As far as the d-word is concerned, it varies in profaneness (is that a word??) depending on context... and where you're from, I guess. What is extremely offensive in one place might be merely impolite in another... and purely innocent in still another. Here in the US, it's nothing to hear this word on television... even on family shows. But it's still considered to be a strong word and not appropriate in polite conversation. Did I answer your question?

I can't believe I didn't find this forum before Mad Smilie !

ProgHead777, I do believe that is Stratovarius
And the name of the song is The Kiss Of Judas .
Is that correct? Its a famouse song and I hope we are thinking of the same song here.

Really? We are a dubious one aren't we Prog? I saw them live at Donington in '91 while I was waiting for 'tallica and AC/DC, I d@mn near fell asleep. Wink Smilie

That's the one Orc With Thumbs Up Smilie

Really? For the most part, here in the US, when people think of metal they think of thrash (metallica, megadeth, etc.) or so-called nu-metal or aggro (System of a Down, Linkin Park, Disturbed, etc.). If I said "Stratovarius" to just about anyone I know, they'd think I was chatting about the weather. Big Laugh Smilie

Well, by '91, Queensryche were becoming a tad dull. After Silent Lucidity, they turned a tad Hair Metal. But Operation: Mindcrime ranks easily in my personal Top 5 Concept Albums Ever list. Have you listened to it in it's entirety? I'd have thought you'd dig the story, if not necessarily the music. If you haven't, you should check it out... you'd probably be quite surprised.

Very Big Grin Smilie
Heh, had to slip a d@mn in somewhere, and I'll go and check out that album again then Prog, haven't heard it in at least 10 years, but if it sucks then it will go very hard with you...
Does Stratovarius sing a song that goes something like:

There's no one else to turn the wheel
I've got my own life to steer

No turning back
Cuz I wanna know who I am and I want to live my life
No turning back
Tomorrow's awaiting, I'm on the way.

I think my dad has their new album... but I'm not sure.
Moderator Smilie Could any of you who are copying entire songs into this, or any other thread for that matter, ensure that you clearly credit the writer of the song at the bottom please. To not do so is a serious breach of copywrite.

If you have already posted such a song anywhere on this site without crediting the writer, could you please go back to that post and edit it as soon as possible. In the next few weeks I shall be removing any uncredited songs that I come across.

Breach of copywrite is an unlawful offence, in which Planet Tolkien can be held responsible. Unless you wish to aid us in busting Taz from jail, can you take care when posting song/poem material.

Even by crediting the writer, it is still a copywrite offence. The preferred option is to only copy part of the song/poem and to credit the writer at the bottom.

Thank you.

Yes they do, that song is called No Turning Back.

I don't think he does if the album has that song on it. That song was first releazed in the single "SOS" from the album "Destiny" in the year 1998, before the album was releazed that same year. The last album I have knowledge they releazed is "Elements Part I" this year and there is no song called "No Turning Back" on that album. SO maybe yor dad has the "Destiny" album.

I'm posting a song if anyone minds, but I have a problem with what Val just said. How are you going to guess the song if Val says I have to put the name of the group? Any way here it is:

A lifetime ago, with frozen eyes they closed the door.
Suddenly I realized what locks are for. No trusting them anymore, lights -
are - out.

Empty the stare, innocent and unaware, dragged out from my home ,my lair.
Earmarked me, hurt me, burned me.

The walls around me, eyes surround me, feed my fear again.
I must be freed or I will die before the harvest moon, my friend.
I do not have another year in me, you've gotta set me free.

The dream is alive, I can run up the hills every night,
go around and see another side of the tree.
Freedom has a meaning for me, howl with me.

Fear in the dark, I advice you. You can not see the eyes, they grow behind
you....
It's my song they now sing to you.
You stand no chance....

They'll kill for me, steal back my freedom, set me free, it's my minions vs.
thee.
Fiery the vengeance, hate will drain me.

The walls around me, eyes surround me, feed my fear again.
I must be freed or I will die before the harvest moon, my friend.
I do not have another year in me, you've gotta set me free.

The dream is alive, I can run up the hills every night,
go around and see another side of the tree.
All I want is to be untamed and free, howl and (dream).

The dream is alive, with the moon on the hills every night,
run around and see another side of the dream.
Freedom has a meaning for me, you can't tame me...

You will remember the day you crossed my path.
leave me without a guard and you feel my wrath.
What you have done to me has made me bitter and cruel.
I'll see that all the hate you spread returns to you, you, to you...

The walls around me, eyes surround me, feed my fear again.
I must be freed or I will die before the harvest moon, my friend.
I do not have another year in me, you've gotta set me free.
Quote:

Did you mean profanity?

Quote:

By the way, what is the meaning of Stratovarius?

I've never heard of the band, but it sounds like a play on words to me, as in Strat (short for Fender Stratocaster, possibly the finest musical instrument ever designed by man) combined with Stradivarius (unarguably the finest violin maker in history) thus combining modern and classic craftsmanship. Of course, it's just a guess, I could be wrong.

Quote:

I think most of what Val meant (which he's been posting everywhere, to make sure you are all aware of the ramifications) can be changed here, do not post the entire lyrics to a song (makes it too easy to guess sometimes anyway) and if nobody guesses it, be sure to tell us yourself (which everyone here does anyway) but most importantly, do not quote the songs in their entirety. Just to clarify things a bit. Thanks for paying attention (Oi, you, Diggle, sit up and pay attention when i'm talking to you Wink Smilie )
That would do it, I think, Plastic. We had to edit down a lot of the Tolkien poetry we had on site to avoid breaching copywrite laws. Posting entire songs could get us into trouble. Just posting part of a song is preferable.
Quote:
As I was goin’ over the Cork and Kerry mountains
I saw Captain Farrell, his money he was countin’
I first produced my pistol and then produced my rapier
I said stand and deliver or the devil he may take ya

I took all of his money and it was a pretty penny
I took all of his money and I brought it home to Molly
She swore that she’d love me, no never would she leave me
But the devil take that woman for you know she tricked me easy

What song is this?? And can thou guess which artist I am aiming for?
Nobody? everybody lost interest in this thread??? N’MO?!?!? someone?? I’ll wait a couple of hours then I will personally answer them myself!
That was Whisky in the Jar by Thin Lizzy

A dozen highborn youths have been killed
Cutting their throats their blood was all spilled
Their bodies set at the foot of your fire
With oxen, sheep and two of your hounds
Achilles, Agony & Ecstasy - Manowar

But Gollum, and the evil one crept up
And slipped away with her.
That'sLed Zeppelin for sure, but I cannot remember which one... Ramble On, maybe?
