In our poll: Where Shall We Hold Our Picnic?
Where did you choose and why?
This poll was developed by Grondmaster and he apologizes in advance for the omission of your favorite Third Age (or later) picnic spot. These were all he could think of at the time, not being a mind reader.

I chose Cormallen Field (where Frodo and Sam awoke in Northern Ithilien after the destruction of the Ring). I had a hard time choosing among it, Cerin Amroth (in Lothlorien), and Parth Galen (near Amon Hen); but decided Faramir and Eowyn would make the best hosts.

Having Eowyn and Faramir as hosts does make that inviting and I think I will agree with you, Grond. My first thought, being a Hobbit, was for the Party Field, just for old times' sake Hobbits are very good hosts too and there would be no lack of victuals.

Thorin the Dwarf of Khazad Dum voted for Mirrormere. I would love to have by picnic by the old weathered stone which marked the spot where Durin first gazed in the Mirrormere. You'd have green grass, a beautiful lake, a pillar and a scenic view of mountains. What more could you ask for?

I was torn between the peace of Mirrormere and the pastoral gaiety of Goldberry's Lawn, and in the end opted for Goldberry's Lawn. She'd be an excellent host, and of course, we'll have plenty of merriment from Tom's hearty singing. And the food... oh, not to mention the food.... I'll bet Goldberry's an accomplished cook.

I ended coming to the same conclusion as Clover, (nice to see you around here again )... Mostly that the picnic would obviously be near a river, with Goldberry being the River's Daughter 'n' all. We'd have the sound of rushing water whilst we eat, as well as Tom singing his songs the way he does. And who better to have around you eating sandwiches than a complete enigma?
