Thread: Music/recordings inspired by T

Bottom of Page    Message Board > General Discussion > Music/recordings inspired by T

That is a tall order, and by the way a very sincere welcome to our family. Have you tried going on Google and printing "list of Tolkien inspired music/lyrics?" I would give it a whirl. If any one on this site can help you I would think it would be Oerath Windsoul, Brego and Galin.

There is a Canadian rock band called Rush, whose early albums were partially  influenced by Tolkien's work. On their second album, Fly by Night, they have a track called Rivendell while their third album, Caress of Steel, has a track called the Necromancer which talks of travelers leaving Rivendell to venture into "the cold and forbidding land of the Necromancer"

These early albums featured quite a lot of fantasy themes and heroic figures fighting mythical beasts.

There was a recording link that had a breif conversation between Morgoth and Sauron, i believe it was either just before the Valar took Morgoth away the first time or after the War of Wrath. anybody know what im talking about? Would also like to find other good music, Rock, Metal, and classical related to Tolkiens works. Thank you.

99% sure that's from "War of Wrath", the intro to Blind Guardian's album "Nightfall in Middle-Earth".

It must be said, however, that in the book Sauron was not with Morgoth at that time at all, he had already fled from Morgoth years before after Lúthien had humiliated him.

Tolkien-related music I can recommend: Tolkien Ensemble, Blind Guardian, Summoning, Battlelore.

Apparently it is against the forum rules to post any links of tolkien stuff from You Tube as i was informed, and I quote:

Dear Azaghal,

About the posting of links to YouTube or other sites.

I saw that you made a thread called: ''Lord of the Rings Audio U-Tube'' I have to say it were nice recordings, but It isn't allowed to post links to sites which have adds, links or content that may be unsafe for children. And YouTube has a lot of adds and also videos and links which can be unsafe for children. Planet-tolkien is certified as a "Family Friendly Website". So it isn't allowed to post links to websites which can content shocking things. So don't post links to YouTube next time. That's only allowed in the Advertisement section of the forum. Well I think Sir Ian did a certain amount of listening to the Ring Poem.

Namarie just blew me away!  It truly sounds like his mother tongue.....  Amazing!

Thanks for those links.....

As Virumor said: BLIND GUARDIAN. It's the first band I have known which plays songs inspired in Tolkien work. Furthermore they use to work together with specialists that know good his "world". Then you have also many bands that have names related to Tolkien e.g. Amon Amarth... but they make viking, middle age music not anything related to Tolkien's work.

I had some really cool Tolkien you tube links here that had Tolkien HIMSELF speaking on recordings But apparently it is against the forum rules to post any links of stuff from You Tube as i was informed, and I quote:

Here is a ten minute recording of a radio interview with JRR Tolkien:

Sorry, not allowed to do this.... see previous posts.

I love Rush. Geddy Lee sounds exactly the same today as when he started , amazing.
