I'll visit sometime....
I have some great head shots of a couple of my cats, and the one of Sheba nursing, I have cropped and blown up. No ugly flash or anything. They are excellent pictures. I am pretty lucky, my cats are hams, and love their pics taken. Some are very funny.

I will try to send you copies of the pics I want done, and then you can tell me. But it sounds like you are really busy till after the new year. If you want, I can still send the pics, and then you can start anytime you want. It would be great to have a present for the family for next year. lol

I guess, the reason, I want one, is that my parents had one done of our English Bulldog that is huge. Big enough to put over the fireplace. (I think it is 2 feet by 2 feet) . I love that painting, and always wanted one of my pets.

I have built a new site for my art. There is more art to see there too. I still have a couple more pictures to add but they are older ones that are on the old site.

Here is the URL for the new site.

Beautiful work, Luthien79. Thank-you for updating the link (I am assuming you are Edoras). Big Smile Smilie
Edoras is actually my oldest sister. She made the original site for me as I didn't have my own computer back then and didn't know how to use one anyway. When I got mine in January, I didn't even know how to switch it on never mind anything else. Big Smile Smilie

I've spent the last few days creating that new site and went there not knowing anything. I just kind of figured it out. I did go in the Goecities forum and get a couple of questions answered but I did surprise myself with the rest.
I'm also an animal artist and i'm going to do another site for that too. Big Smile Smilie Big Smile Smilie Big Smile Smilie
I've put a link to your site up. I'm going to try and get those other couple of pictures up today.

You mentioned my counters. I did have a look but couldn't find an option for changing the mode they are set at.
I love your website Luthien79, can't help but make a comment about your photo, your very prettyElf Sticking Tounge Out Smilie
Ditto on that comment of Taz's, Luthien. Smile Smilie
My girlfriend wants your jeans. She loves them.
Oh my god! What can I say? Luthien, you art is amasing! I lack the words to desribe it! I believe it's the best I've ever seen!
LOL, I love those jeans too so I regret to say your girlfriend can't have them. There are plenty of jeans like that around at the moment. Mind, lots of them are those that look like they've been washed in a dirty toilet. I'm not a fan of those things.

Thanks for looking at my site everyone. It's so appretiated. Smile Smilie Smile Smilie Smile Smilie

Well, I won't be able to turn out anymore LOTR paintings for a little while because I have to paint one of my sister's guinea piggies for her. It's her christmas present from me.
Last time I painted a guinea pig, I had the RSPCA after me Wink Smilie
Luthien, you are very talented. I am quite impressed. I have a photo, that I would love to have painted. Cat Smilie It is of a black and white cat, that had just had five kitten. They are only hours old, less than 24 hours, maybe only 2 or 3 hours old. I don't really remember. Sheba (the mommy) is sitting up on her back legs, with her back in the corner of the box. The kittens are splayed around her nursing. I have never seen anything else like it. Neither has any vet that I have shown the pic to. I think she was trying to get away from the kittens, because she was not a very good mother. We found home for 4 of the kittens and kept one. Her name was Squiggle Marie, and she died 3 years ago. She was only 6 years old. Squiggles was one of my favorite cats. She was a great mix of both of her parents. Sheba is almost ten now. Since, Sheba had some medical problems as a kitten we did not expect her to still be around or as healthy as she is now. If I could get that as a painting before anything does happen to her, it would really mean a lot to me. Let me know if you have the time, or are willing to do it and how much it will cost me. I may have other photos for you to paint as well.
Thanks, in advance!
Mellie

Val I think Luthien means 'paint a picture of one', not literally paint a guniea pig, this was probably your downfall and what caused the RSPCA to send there men in white jackets round.
Originals are expensive.

When I do commissioned portraits, the price depends on the size of the painting and whether they have it framed amd mounted or not.
The starting price for an unframed A4 would be about ’90. They can take a while to do depending on the subject matter and how busy I am anyway.

Another thing to remember is that all photos I paint from must be of good quality. I don't like photos where the pet is drowned in harsh flash. It has to be clear and the pet close enough to see all the fine detail. The number of people who present you with a snap shot of a field with a dot in it and expect you to paint a detailed head and shoulders portrait from it.

Now that`s what I call art! Beautiful artwork Luthien79! I especially love the drawing of Nimrodel, that one was really goodElf Winking Smilie

This is the kind of art that I understand! What I don`t understand is the art where I look at a, for example, brown-colored painting and then must assume that there is a deeper meaning behind it!

I saw on the news last night a norwegian who hung up his pictures in a fancy gallery somewhere in NY and they were all just one color!! Like just a red painting and a blue one and a brown and so on...and the criticts love them!! I could`ve done that! Ha Ha Ha Smilie

I agree Celebrian! I loathe modern art. It is sacrilege to people who have talent.

People who produce stuff like that are talentless idiots who want to make money out of something they obviously can't do. Modern art is their excuse. I am very passionate about this sort of stuff. Did you ever hear about that modern masterpiece which turned out to have been done by a 4 year old kid? There was another that was done by an elephant. AN ELEPHANT!!!!!!!!!:hahaha That says everything.

MelliotSandyBanks!

I assume the prices don't bother you then. You can send the pictures whenever you want and I'll take a look at them.
You'll have to let me know exactly what you want doing and how big. I can then give you a proper quote.

It's not all sh*t. Obviously some of it has no relevance at all, but a lot of it is very clever. My buddy Damien does some very good stuff, once you think about it for long enough, you actually get it, and think, bloody hell! That really is very clever indeed. If you know what I mean?
I am not a real bit fan of Modern Art either. I just don't get it. But there are a few pieces that I have seen, that were really cool. I guess, it depends on the artist and what s/he does.

Ok, will do, sometime this weekend or next week Luthien
Sorry but anybody can produce a modern masterpiece. There is nothing clever about it. I've studied art in college and went to art galleries where I saw plenty of the stuff and there was no exception in my opinion.

Modern art is getting to the point where you can pick a paper clip up off the floor, place it on a tile and call it a masterpiece. The piece that won a major art competition was an empty room with a light that switched on and off every 3 seconds. What the heck is artistic about that?

Not everybody can draw properly. That is a talent.

Melliot!

Thats fine. Whenever you are ready.

I actually saw that! Big Laugh Smilie LMAO! One time I sat down and stared at a pic for a whole day, cause our teacher told us to find a hidden meaning behind it...in the end I saw red and green dots Big Smile Smilie I didn`t see anything and neither did 99% of the class! Bwahahahaha! Ha Ha Ha Smilie
Hehe
I've seen paintings done by a cat and a chimpanseeWink Smilie
I remeber one time I saw a huge painting wich was to hang iin a teather so that people would have something to look at befor the show started (I think). It was a big white canvas with two black lines.. He had also other masterpieces, white lines on a black canvas! Big Laugh Smilie

But I actually liked the brown picture Celebrian talked about. Don't ask.. I don't know why. I just saw it and thought "Hmm.. interesting..."
Oh and our art-class had to analyze one picture each, but at least ours were figurative! When we studied what year it was made in and where the artist lived at the time and what he was interested in we actually read quite a lot from it! (Or into it Wink Smilie )

You did?!?! I saw it and thought...."huh"? Even our Queen thought his pictures was great!! Shaking Head Smilie I just don`t get it!!
<-----Celeb! Look! Look! We both have 50 now! We'll get two stars and become "friends"! Hurray!!!

But to stay on topic, do you really think the Queen would say. "Oh I'm a such an art-lover but this is pure $hit!" ? Can you imagine the headlines?? Big Laugh Smilie
That would be great Ama! I would just love it! Big Smile Smilie But the "problem" is that she really is an art-lover..any kind of art Elf Rolling Eyes Smilie She is the art-loving-well-dressed-magic-blablabla Queen of norway and me dontsssss like her! Moderator Smilie

Well, I've finished the Guinea pig painting for my sister and have started on another LOTR painting. I've only done the outline yet. Ready to be coloured in though.
Blackriders fleeing from Crickhollow.

I'm looking up some photos in my photography magazines to use as reference with the background. More time consuming than painting the image itself.
