No idea, but here's a good one...

What story and by whom has currently the most reads after the never-gonna-be-topped "Development History of Middle Earth" (Clue, it ain't you anymore Val, WOOHOO!)

No fair, Plastic. Some of the storys have been up a lot longer than the others and there is also the matter of the itmes at the top of the page tending to be read first because they catch the eye first.

Ruler...a horse if memory serves?

Let me wallow in my victory over Val at last, it's been a long time coming! (Also my other story's been up longer than that one, and has less hits) I may be shallow, but at least I admit it!

Yep, my Osgiliath story was really flying at the top of the page until Plastic posted one above it.

I've been thinking for a while about rearranging them all into a proper order, whereby stories by the same postAuthorID are next to each other (except posting them in alphabetical order would stop mine ever being read ). What do you think, Allyssa? This is more your domain.

I feel that the Fan Writing really needs to be sectionalised, but that is not really viable I understand.

Maybe alphabetical order would be better rather than order of posting (which is not really fair).

Hehe, I actually meant in order of title, but hey I could change my nick to: AAAAAAllyssa and then I would be indefatigable.

I think they'd stand out best if placed in groups of who they were written by, like when you go into a bookshop and see them stacked together under their postAuthorID's name.

There you generally can never find the A to F section because the shelving starts in some dark corner upstairs, those lucky enough to be in the V section are near the front door, and the P's are lost in a damp cellar.

Maybe we could also have a promotional stand too, where any new releases got to be placed on a stand next to the cash register.

I just think it would postThreadIDy the place up a little bit.

I have already tried to do the promotional bit by making a new thread for each new addition to the fan fic.

Re-organising might help, but if we do it by Author's name, one person will get all their stories at the top, and this could disadvantage the others, and evryone is hoping to have their story read by lots of people, right?

What might work is to insert some spaces in between the options. At least that would make the menu easier to read.

The top stories do get read the most, but I think after a while readers will look for other works by their prefered postAuthorIDs just like in bookshops. I think sectioning them with a gap between postAuthorIDs will make it look a lot neater. I'm liable to be at the bottom, but I've no problem with that.

That was one of the reasons I suggested placing the newest story in the most prominant place.... Right at the top, under the heading "Newest Addition!". That would give everyone's new stories the chance of being the top story for a while until the next new one came along.
I like that 'Newest Addition' idea, Val, but I suspect the re-organisation might need to be done by Taz?
I think Plastic knows how to do it... He did manage to slip his own story to the top of the pile afterall Big Smile Smilie
Well, Plastic? Wink Smilie
Not me, it got there all by itself, I have no idea how it works, might have a looky later though...
