Thread: TolkienFan.net
It all sounds great, Taz! My, you have changed a lot here in the past what, half hour? You keep amazing me!
Of course, I am still a member of the council
I hope we will still see you around sometimes Taz
Actually I have been working on it 'offline' for days I trust you like it? Opinions, design cool huh?
I love it. The brown coloured forum takes a while to get used to, but it's great, yeah!
your's is brown? mine's green...
I like this a lot Taz...good job! (as always...hehe) (btw, I really like the clicking on the smilies to put them in the postBody thing )

hey why am I a stranger again? I'm almost to 500 posts!
The user ranks are messed up at the moment, will fix later tonight
Don't worry chika, even Plastic is a stranger now.
And mine is still brown. Is that meant to be, Taz?

Yes, I am working on the other themes now, they should all be brown.
How much stranger am I then Tom?
Fantastic Idea Taz! I pledge to help out as much as I can.

Wow.... Am I on the same site? Has someone slipped something into my drink?
Take a little getting used to, but it looks good, and as long as everyone's still here, that's the main thing.
Was that a prophesy when I mentioned to you that I wondered how you managed to run the site on your own?

omigod...omigod! Where am I? I'm Sceeeered! j/k
I love it! I know my rating is stranger but I've been visiting PT for a month now, I just haven't been posting! I absolutely love this site and now it's just gotten better! The people here are what makes the site so I don't think a facelift and upgrades will hurt anything. Dumb question: can we still call it planet tolkien?

Of course, the domain still exists and so will PT
Okay, three hours later and only waiting for five minutes to get the home page up instead of twenty to get half a page, I finally made it here. Having broadband at my end doesn't seem a help today at least for TF, it worked for PT. I suppose the neat graphics has been the slow-down cause.
Any I love the new look! It is beautiful.
Well done Taz

Nice Work Taz.
Hey, did I mention that I was here for the great historic moment of TolkienFan.net being born? I got quite a feeling of awe as the new era began. Very dramatic and exciting wasn't it Tommi? I felt quite privelidged and honoured.
Now that I have gotten used to it all, I rather like it. I sometimes find it hard to adjust to change (curse my elven blood!) but I admit that sometimes new is for the better.
Just one little thing.....any chance of getting that picture of Viggo back? Really liked that.

Yeah, I liked the old logo too. But the new one is even better!
Was I here when it all happened? I think I was, now that you mention it yeah. It was quite a shock at first, cos I thought I'd landed on the wrong website!

It's now possible for everyone to comment on news articles so... lets seem some people!!!
Wasn't that possible in the past too?
For members yes, guests no. And as I have been making extra effort to add comments, yes it's new :-)
You never cease to amaze me, Taz! I like it.
You do us proud, Taz!
(Grondy move your suggestion down to the Suggestion Box.)

The Council will be a team of people (not all of which have been chosen yet) who will manage the website on a daily basis, monitoring added content, coming up with new ideas and basically steering the community in the right direction. They will not have Tolkien based names and will still go by username as the people who are picked will already be well known around the site.

Hey Taz, surely Grondy should be on that Council. His name has even been turned into a verb now. Like Rednells post above, it got "Grondied".
It was 42 who came up with it, and I laughed my *ss of when I first read it.
hey wait.... i have a tolkien based name.. does that mean i cant be a member of the council...
not that i had been asked anyways!

Well this is one Taz has been fighting for a quite a while. I can't post comments
To post comments about an article, you have to be logged out in order to have the Comment link on the home page operational and also to even see the active Post Comment Button on the Read More Page.
When you are logged in, you just can't get there from here
I just tried it both ways to be sure that I wasn't blowing smoke.

Sounds good to me; and it means more than: His name has even been turned into a verb now. Like Rednells post above, it got "Grondied".

So that means pretty much everyone (even Grondy :verysad is not going to be part of the council? But I guess Plastic and Allyssa will be in it then, right?
Perhaps Taz just meant they will be given a new name or sth, but they can still use their old usernames?
Tolkien based names and the council
I think what Taz meant was that council members will not be given titles like "Elrond" or "Gandalf", as has been done elsewhere. It was thought that it would be better if familliar names were retained so that everyone knows who everyone is. You will have noticed the "council member" title under the usernames at the tops of member's posts.
Taz has also mentioned something about getting a Council Member List up, but I am not sure when. Probably when some members stop being shy about posting photos of themselves

Now who could you possibly be refferring to Alyssa?
ah right.. that makes sence.. ie.. tolkien based names....
hey, that means i still have a shot then! hint hint....
silly newbie.

Just thought of something funny, if "Grondy" can now be used as a verb as well as a noun, that makes Grondy a - wait for it - a Gerund.
Its true. Learned it in editing.
(I was going to edit out this post as it only contained a single smilie, but seeing as how I was the "Gerund" of Allyssa's joke, I felt a response was required.)

If there is anyone out there who can help us by making a donation, please do so now! We have one week to keep TolkienMail and other aspects of PT going!
You're kidding! Only one week? I'll donate now...
If I can...

Thank you ALL for your very kind donations, due to the large response I am pleased to say we raised enough to keep PT going for another four months easily :-)
Thank you, you know who you are.
