Wow Taz. It's great. Gave me quite a surprise when I logged in! I fancy even Mr Tolkien would like it.
About the "edge bits" Grondy was talking about. I have them too. If we got rid of them, the forums could be made "wider" and more spacious. Just a thought.

Most of us have a greyish-green background with black lettering. Our Website menu to the left is walnut with black links and white section headers. Don't know why you are getting the redish color. I like it alot, however I find it very hard to see the subject matter since it's written in black against a red or maroon colored background. Really nice re-design, Taz. The color schemes and textures really appeal to my sensibilities. I really like it all a lot. But my only problem is that it seems to make things run a lot slower on my machine for some reason.

It could be an optical illusion created by the proximity of the green/beige shades. But it is in fact a walnut colour. I like the wood grain look very much. Very Tolkien-esque. And I just adore the little snowflakes. Very cute. Maybe after christmas you could turn them into little JRRT symbols, Taz. reddish-colour
Speed: I don't find it noticably slower, and I am using a P3 with dial up (can't get much slower). I like the way the pages reconstruct themselves when you press the page-down button. Very swish.

That is probably the javascript snow flakes. We have had a series of people reporting this... Soon they will be gone But my only problem is that it seems to make things run a lot slower on my machine for some reason.

The first thing I noticed after being away for a couple of days was a welcome back Valedhelgwath that I had never noticed before.
It looks good Taz, although I've now got to go and alter a section of the new Guide I was working on because the screen and some of the features are different now.

What I really like is the font's larger point type in the input windows; I used to have to strain to read what I was writing.
Ringfacwen, I can understand the problems that you are having seeing the black on the walnut. I didn't have a problem on my desktop, but since I have been on the laptop, I have been experiencing the same thing. Perhaps, if the black was in bold, that would help the situation a bit.
