Had it been a geeks guild I would have joined, but nerd? Not so sure what you call a nerd and what not really. I have a lot of friends, socialise fairly enough I think, like going out, but I also like reading, Internet and computer games. Does that make me a nerd? In that case, I know a lot of nerds. lol Tongue Smilie

In my book:

Nerds wear glasses and pocket protecters, are interested in math, science, and/or engineering. In my day we also wore a slide rule hanging from our belts, replaced by a programable calculater when they came out, but now my fellow nerds probably have a powerful laptop hardwired to their left hands.

Geeks are just fanatics who go overboard, (can you say obsessive behavior?) about something like computer games, or J.R.RTolkien.

Of course I may be too close the trees or the oliphaunt to properly define it, having been or am still being both a nerd and a geek. Cool Elf Smilie

i think it should be Lambda Lambda Lambda - well, that was the name of the student club of the nerds in the movie(s) "Revenge of the Nerds"

This thread is about geeks and nerds. (Lambda) X 3 was the name of the fraternity that the nerds belonged to in the movie Revenge of the Nerds and its prequels and/or sequels. Some of our members are one or the other, some are both, and some are neither. Most of us wear those names as badges of honour rather than the put downs they were originally meant to be. What is the current definition of "dork"? It used to be someone stick-in-the-mud-like, after the biblical character named "Dorcas," who was nice and helped others out with acts of kindness and charity. Cool Elf Smilie

In keeping with my "There's a ubiquitous Simpsons line for every occasion, and I know 95% of 'em" theory, "I'm not a nerd, Bart. Nerds are smart." And I was always told a geek was someone who bit the heads off chickens The things that passed for entertainment before we had the Trilogy....

Where that leaves us I'm not quite sure. Maybe we're just folks...?

Hmmm...I have been called a drama geek in the past, but I don't really think I am either a geek or a nerd....ok, maybe I'm a little geeky, but, I am a strong believer in physical as well as mental activity -- can I wear a pocket protector with my gym clothes?
