Hey guys, just saying a big hello to everyone.
Not much to say really, except that I'm a huge fan of the whole Tolkien fantasy. I first read the Hobbit and then LOTR when I was younger and read them quite a few times. However, I have to say that it was the news that the films were being made that got me to read them again (and again, and again ...). I also took the plunge and read the Silmarillion for the first time. I tried reading this after LOTR but wasn't that interested as an eight year old. I have to say now that this is now my favourite book and it is now well worn.
Am at some point, when finances allow, going to buy the Complete Histories but it may be a while as I am but a poor student (Computer Science @ Manchester, England if you really want to know).
That is pretty much it really, except to say that I came to this site with a few questions left unanswered by the books and within minutes had found what I was looking for and in much more detail than I had expected.
Cheers,
Handamo,
Edoras
Thread: Hello Everybody!
Yahooooo! Another UKer!
Welcome, Handamo. I absolutely love the Silmarillion. HOME is great as reference books but not the easiest books to read. The Letters of JRRT is a wonderful source of information. If you haven't already got it, get it!

Welcome, Handamo, to our PT fellowship! I am so glad that you have found us.
Vee is right, the Tolkien letters are a must for every Tolkien fan.
Enjoy your visits. I look forward to your insights on all things Tolkien.

WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!
Just saying thanks for saying hi back.
And it will be nice to be able to talk about Tolkien without my friends either falling asleep or just telling me to shut up (but not quite that politely - quite fair after I have just spent a couple of hours explaining the finer points of the whole history of man, then elf, then universe after someone asked me why Aragorn wasn't already king!)
There is definately a 'geeky' side to me (no offence to anyone, my own thoughts - does not apply to anyone else...) that loves this sort of stuff.
Not very good when there is coursework to be handed in and all I can think about is a world that some people have the audacity to say doesn't even exist. The fools!

As a sidenote, I don't suppose your nicname is Japanese, is it?
