Happy 1000th-post-day! Everyone else (except GB since he came up with the idea later) has gotten one, and you can't be an exception! Let's par-tay!

(I noticed this elsewhere but didn't want to spam up the Big Bad Serious Thread.)
Nice one! Happy P1000 Day Petty! [img:1htfjzu9]http://www.narniaweb.com/forum/images/smilies/36.gif[/img:1htfjzu9]
[i:199dfrsf]Happy Postday to you,
You're as mad as a shrew,
And you're just as grumpy,
With sharp teeth, it's true![/i:199dfrsf]

Wise Odo on behalf of all Odo's!!!!
I'm finally at 400!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!
An Eldo, I'm IN LOVE WITH YOUR AVATAR!!!!!!!!!!!
Joesph Gordon Levitt=  :ugeek:
I love him!
Happy 400th post day, Tin.

I decided to switch from a Predators avatar to an Inception one after seeing the second. The
zero-g fight
was one of my favourite scenes so I thought Arthur was a good choice for an avatar. :ugeek:
You know odd thing is I failed to notice both this thread or the number of posts I'd made on here. Simple fact is if you people weren't so darn engaging to chat to it would never have happened so thanks to everyone for making this place more than worth all the time I've spent on here.
I'm glad you joined us. This is one of my favourite forums largely because everyone here is so thoughtful and well-spoken. It has a level of conversation not found on most forums.
This was, and is, my first and only foray into the world of posting on forums-seems I lucked out then Eldo.
This is my only forum too. I used to go on another hobbit movie forum, but I was called a Troll. I don't how that could have happened, for as you guys know, I'm always pleasant and never emit a contentious word, nor do I ever make Politically Incorrect statements, or stir things up, or allow my alter egos (if I had any) channel poetry that seems more about teasing and poking fun at Ideologues than sticking to the point of Forums; or threaten people; or try to seduce people (bearded, or not) with feminie type wiles - for all the preceding behaviours would be Hobbit Forum Sinfulness, surely.

Actually, it's probably just as well I am a "Hobbit Forum Monogamist" for I spend an inordinant amount of time here. Imagine if I got my teeth into other forums! I might have to give up sleeping!

Ha-ha! Have I stumbled on a conundrum here? If I was on other Forums, I'd be in a sense 'sleeping' around, while never actually sleeping!

Cheers,
Profound Odo

NB Eldorion, I have tried to use a variety of Big Words in this post - because I do want you very much to include me among your 'Intelligent Forumers.' (I have checked the Thesaurus and Oxford Dictionary and have reason to believe I have used said Big Words correctly).
Am I the only one who goes onto other forums? (I think GB does but I don't know about anyone else...) Well at any rate I've never gone to another Hobbit forum; I stumbled across two others through Google but neither seemed to have the level of interesting conversation that we do here so I didn't bother joining. 8-)

...Not to say that we aren't silly at times, too. :P

NB Odo, you have indeed stunned me with your stupendously well-worded post. In fact, I would be an utter imbecile not to count you an 'intelligent forumer' as your profundity regularly reduces me to pure awe at your the breadth and verbosity of your wisdom. Truly, you are a marvel even among the most intelligent of forumers!
I think GB is on a Narnia forum. If it isn't him, it's someone with the same Pseudonym and the same avatar!
When it comes to forums, I am a freak. I am on everything: Student forums, Harry Potter forums, LOTR forums. Not so much now, as I left a few to concentrate on my studies.

Don't worry Odo. I have been called a troll a many time. But surely this isn't the only forum you will ever go on?! What commitment! By the way, that is a conundrum... I think.
Why YES, I do post at Narniaweb  . Though my current Avatar there is a picture of Lucy and Aslan that I drew.

When our dear forum was closed down for awhile (again!) I visited Narniaweb, GB. Smut, any naughtiness, the taint of vulgarity, are banned there I found. As you are aware, I like all those things (within reason - and providing it is applied wittily), so it left me with a poor view of that forum. I hate the smell of suppression in the morning!
I have an account on NarniaWeb under a different username but I've never posted (I was going to PM GB during the first forum downtime). I've had experience with net nanny forums before though and it's quite stifling in my opinion. I don't post on that forum anymore.
this is the only forum i post anything on
This is just my place to ex-sponge my LOTR obsession in peace without being called weird, obsessive, or annoying. So everyone's happy !!!!!!!!!
I assure you Tin that there is nothing weird, obsessive, or annoying about a LoTR obssession. Its people who don't appreciate Tolkien you've got to watch! And if they tell you they don't like fantasy or sci-fi because its 'silly'-run!
Yes, to THEM this is all annoying or strange, but that's just there OUTSIDER view. If I ever become a teacher (probably not, but an option) my class will be REQUIRED to read at LEAST 1 Tolkein book. Maybe then at least ONE generation will have some inspiration to do something with their lives to inspire others, like myself
Man, i used alot of caps there!
Tin I got banned from doing my english dissertation on Tolkien many moons ago because my English teacher thought fantasy was not 'high-brow' enough. She wanted me to do someone like Dickens. I ended up doing it on the poet Philip Larkin. Still get steamed about that all these years later!
So I'm rather pleased at the thought one day their might be a teacher out there somewhere actively encouraging Tolkien as a subject worthy of study.

I agree 1000% . Your "English" teacher sounds like a literary Philistine :P . "Fantasy" is the most revealing literary genre there is. As Lewis would say, it allows "truth" (or at least concepts and models of reality) to be smuggled past the "Watchful Dragons" of a stubborn mind.

I've always found it amusing what different positions detractors of LOTR take. Half of them accuse it of being literary trash fit only for children while the other half allege that it's so complicated you need an advanced degree to even try to read it. Well, which is it?

(Neither, [i:3fnd453h]obviously[/i:3fnd453h]... )
The English teacher in question was particularly biased I have to say. A friend of mine, sick of her marking him down every time he handed in fantasy/sci-fi related work and wanting to see what would happen, copied as his short story homework an Asimov (may have been Arthur C. Clarke, it was a long time ago) Hugo Award winning short story- he got a D!
Some teacher!!!!!
my 8th grade english teacher had a LOTR poster in her room describing all of the characters, had a Gollum book mark, and got excited when she saw me reading ROTK in class.
my 9th grade engilsh teacher had a LOTR poster in his room and made several jokes or connections to it. For example, we were watching the movie Snow Falling on Cedars after reading the book, and he explained (to my less intelligent classmates  ) that Ethan Hawke hadn't lost his arm REALLy, but it was an illusion, much like the Hobbit in LOTR.
Luckily, I haven't had any teachers like yours petty, but in 5th grade my teacher didn't want me reading FOTR because it was taking me the whole school year!!!!
This is the forum that I post on most regularly. I am on six other forums, the first is Song of the paddle (an open Canoeing forum) the second is BushcraftUK (a survival forum) The third is the hunting life (hunting forum) the fourth is Woodlife (survival forum) the fifth is Holy Lands (an RPG forum) and the 6th is an exclusive private forum where trackers converse in private.

This is the forum where I spend the 2nd most time. I am a mod on the private one.
I've probably joined close to a dozen different forums but I've made more than a few posts on only half of them. Currently this are one of three that I post regularly on (the other two are a general Tolkien/LOTR forum and an Avatar: The Last Airbender forum), though there is another where I lurk a lot. This is probably my second most active forum, only because the LOTR one is so much bigger.
