Apperently Pj has been spotted buzzing about in helicopter over the Queenstown area of NZ scouting locations for TH. So I took a quick look on google to see what it had to offer. Feel free to play the game of guessing which bits of the film might be shot there. [quote="pettytyrant101":qeyjvdzy] [img:qeyjvdzy][/img:qeyjvdzy] [/quote:qeyjvdzy] I'd love it if Laketown was filmed there, but is it big enough?
I suppose with todays level of effects they could make the Lake bit as big as they like. Need to get out my maps but assuming thats looking north towards Iron Hills aren't the mountains too close? I suppose it could be looking westwards towards the Misty Mountains. But again they might be too close.
Yeah, on second thought the mountains do look very close. A beautiful place though, hope they find a use for it (or someplace similar)
Perhaps when they're floating in the barrels?
There's the solution, good thinking, Tin
Yeah good call Tin. I can just picture the barrels bobbing down there with the poor dwarves inside and Bilbo clinging on. (makes me wonder how they will treat being invisible in this one-in Tolkiens drawing Conversation with Smaug, Tolkien seems to acknowledge this visual problem, his solution if memory serves is to have a silhoutte Bilbo in a grey cloudy haze).
It's certainly a stunning setting, could be the bit where the barrels are collected before being moved further on to the lake. Although, if they use the effects they could take the mountains out altogether and just put in the lonely mountain!
