Thread: books based on the movie

Bottom of Page    Message Board > Other... > books based on the movie
Last week I was waiting for my bus to arrive, and it was due for about two hours. I went into a bookshop and found there some books about Middle Earth etc. They carried the titles of the three parts, The Fellowship of the Ring, the Two Towers and The Return of the King. Even though they carried pictures from the movie I secretly hoped to see they were according to the book.
Alas, they were not. It talked about the elves at helms deep and other things that are not correct according to the book, but are according to the movies.

I was sadly dissapointed about this.
Why can't there be books that are based on the movies, but do say that such parts (like the elves at helm's deep) are not according to the original. Maybe they could explain PJ's motivations for it, but also what those differences mean for the rest of the story.
I'd rather see movies based on the book, instead of books based on the movies (-:
I see them as another three examples of New Line's raping the benefits of Professor Tolkiens work. Oops, did I mis-spell reaping? No, I don't think so! Elf With a Big Grin Smilie
Gotta love those guys.
Go Grondy!
TWO HUNDRED YEARS LATER
"What portable text are you reading?"
"I'm reading an ancient copy of a manuscript called the Ruler of the Rings. It was originally called Lord of the Rings that's sooo sexist."
"Ah, I remember the DVD. Who programmed it?"
"Peter JAckson, of course."

SAD!!!! (Of course this probably won't happen)
