I am from Sweden! And proud of it!
Poor Aul’, he's a Sweed, they just don't know any better.. Na-na-na-na-na Smilie
(Don't mind me, just some good old Norway vs Sweeden brotherly love-hate thing. Been going on for ages. They have exactly the same jokes about us as we have about them. Wink Smilie )

But to stay in topic: Thak you krissie_g for giving "The quest will claim his life." quote meaning. It has bugged me for some time as I couldn't figure out why Galadriel said that. Except for making us belive he was suppose to die so we would believe Shelob really killed him.
Aule I know exactly what you mean I just pointing out the my theory about the undying lands!

Hehehehe yup....we got alot of jokes about norwegians hehehe. If you can read this then....hehehe Kan du t’nka dig att i USA blir en person ’verk’rd varje kvart.
-Ojd’. Han kan inte m’ s’ bra
hahahahha stupid norweigan...no I am just joking Big Laugh Smilie don’t take it the wrong way Amari’! Big Smile Smilie
Big Laugh Smilie
But watch it now, the council doesn't like it when we are not using english. They want to make sure we are not saying bad or offensive things. So to avoid bringing upon us the Wrath of Grondy I'll translate the joke (which is a conversation between a Sweed and a Norwegian, or an Norwegain and a Sweed, it depends on who tells it):

-In the USA one person gets runned over every 15min.
-Oh, he must be in a lot of pain.

Norwegians understand Sweedish and Danish quite well (and we have been owned by both), seems to be worse the other way around.. Or so they say.

And as Ross said, Frodo doesn't take Arwens place, he got to go because he was a Ringbearer (and so was Bilbo and Sam). Legolas built his own ship to take him and Gimli.

The question is: if an elf built a boat and brought a dwarf (or hobbit or man), one Galadriel or Elrond or other important persons didn't know, would the non-elf be sendt away from the shores of Valinor, or would the way to Valinor be hidden for them both untill the elf kicked the non-elf out of the boat? Wink Smilie
No, Amari’ I said that about the ringbearers going to the west. Maybe he said it too but I believe I pointed it out first, not Ross.
I meant Ross said Frodo didn't take Arwens place, I didn't see you post about the ringbearer thing so I thought it had not been mentioned in here. Sloppy reading on my behalf. But now I see it looks like I copied your post. I'm sorry, it was not my intention to do so.. Sad Smilie
Here let me clear this up between you two, I said Frodo went to Aman because he earned it, not because Arwen forfited her place. I pointed out that Arwen could have gone to Aman if she wanted to.
And I pointed it out first so Amarie was sort of correct.

Good question Amarie. In the case of Tuor, he was allowed to stay (and actually became joined to the Noldor), but that was because he had been raised by elves, and actually knew few people of his own race.

When Ar-Pharazon went there with his Numenorian armies, however, he did not recieve the same kind welcome. Instead Eru came down, destroyed his island and most of his people, and imprisoned the army in the Caves of the Forgotten.

And as a sad thought to end this post... Who actually says Gimli made it to Valinor? He may have sailed west with Legolas, but whose to say the Valar did not demand Legolas tip him into the sea before he could come ashore himself....A case of Gimli swims with the fishes Sad Smilie
Amari’, no biggy. I might have made a mistake myself(though I doubt it this time.) so it’s ok.

Okay Ross maybe you pointed it out first though I do not think so....but let us leave this behind us...

Oh and a question for Val...How do I send private postBodys? it says in my account private postBodys but I haven’t got any....so I wonder what it is and how I use it(if it’s when you communicate personally with another member).....thanks

Sorry to be a petty git but you will see I posted my theory first on this thread!

Oh Val.. Sad Smilie
I don't think Legolas would have done that. Not being allowed to enter would break Gimlis heart. He probably would have chosen to swim with the fishes rather than to go back. Legolas would rather swim to shore and let Gimli take the boat back, or maybe not leave Gimli at all. It would break his heart to leave his best friend behind, and knowing how sad Gilmi would get Legolas might be to worried to leave him.

Not letting Gimli in would cause so much sadness. Gimli would be devestated, Legolas would be sad and worried sick if he left Gimli, and sad and homesick if he stayed. Aul’ would be sad, Galadriel would be sad, Frodo would be sad, Gandalf would be sad, all of Tolkiens readers would be sad. And Tolkien too I bet. Nienna would cry for him at Manw’s feet and Aul’ would beg. The others would send Gandalf to plead for them (him beeing a maia and all). Letting Gimli in would lead to a better relationship between elves and dwarwes, his love for Galadriel and close friendship with Leogolas would be recognicable for the elves and a brigdebuilder between the two races, making it easier to understand each other. As far as I can see letting him in would only lead to positive things, and I can see no reason to send him back.

Go into the "My Account" section of the site, and then have a read of the "website Help" bit, it's all explained there.
Okay, Amarie, you've pleaded your case well enough to move even Mandos (in fact I think you even made Melkor shed a tear). Gimli can enter Valinor Smile Smilie
Aww.. Thank you Val! You made me, my dwarwen friend Gimli and everybody in Valinor very happy! Big Smile Smilie
About Arwen forfeiting her place to Frodo, that is not true! She forfeited it to be with Aragorn, and Frodo passed to the west because he was a ringbearer and he well...I guess "deserved" it.
And about Men entering Aman or undying lands, the only thing I am sure is about Earendil in the undying lands, he was given a choice between Elves and Men and he chose to be an elf. Also I read somewhere anout what the undying lands is to other races...I can't quite remember clearly, but I don't think that just being on the undying lands will make a person immortal.
And, Yes! Gimli should be accepted to Valinor! Whooohoooo! Big Smile Smilie
MadWannabe no one can change the natural lifespan of the creatures of Arda except Il’vatar himself.... And Amari’ I would most DEFINATELY be Sad Smilie if Gimli hadn’t been permitted access to Aman by Manw’. But then again I, Aul’, would most definately do everything so that Gimli could enter Aman and I would teach him about all the things I know... Big Smile Smilie
Yeah, just to clear this up, Earendil was indeed Elfy anyway, he just broke the Banishment of the Noldor by going back (cos he was indeed of Noldorin descent) and should really have incurred the wrath of the Valar and the doom of Mandos, however, they're just a bunch of old softies really.
ARE YOU CALLING ME A SOFTY PLASTIC?!?!?!?! Big Smile Smilie
According to the Daily Star (an English tabloid newspaper) 15/2/03 Frodo sacrifices himself and dies (with picture from ROTK).
Told you that he hasn't read the books
I don't believe it. Not at all.

Yeh, I do have to agree here, as the Daily Star specialises in football and porn.
