And yes I have often used LotR to put my self to sleep once I knew the story; however I found that The Silmarillion did the job faster, and have just found that Lays of Beleriand works even faster. None of this should be taken as a negative against the books; I usually read myself to sleep, except when I get so wrapped up in the story, that I don't close the book until 9 or 10 in the morning after I come to "The End".
