That is a good one Delidia.
The music in Delidia's trailer reminds me of Prokofiev's musical score for the 1938 Alexander Nevsky as the invading Teutonic knights meet the serfs and warriors of Novgorod on the ice of Lake Peipus in 1242. In fact I doubt if that similarity is accidental.

Acctually, the background music (NOT the voice that is singing a bit louder, but the other one, the background choir) comes from Carmina Burana, a rather well known opera, performed in the latin language, that I participated in some years ago. The part they used here is from a song called "O Fortuna". I love that song, really nice. I am very surprised they used it here since it's about these people relying on luck and trying to capture the opportunities that runs past them. Not exactly what I would say LotR is really about.
Anyway, lovely trailer, I can't stop watching it!!
Thank you so much Delidia!

Okay my thing is still buffering the trailer...wow,its taking forever.....(10 minutes later),I give up. Guess I will just have to see how bad the movie is when it comes out.
I can't wait!

I had to wait for a while, but it was worth it. The trailer was great! Thanks, Delidia!

What I meant about the music was the effect of the music combined with the knights racing across the fields towards the battle to come and it kept building to a cressendo. This was the simularity to Alexander Nevsky. Acctually, the background music (NOT the voice that is singing a bit louder, but the other one, the background choir) comes from Carmina Burana, ...
Thanks for letting us know what the actual music was. If the movie's soundtract is anything like this trailer I will pre-order it.
I am watching this trailer again and again, and it just brings tears to my eyes. When the music goes forte you see that Hell has released all its powers and Satan himself is marching with all his troops and the great battle begins.. that just makes all my emotions explode!
(Acctually Grondy, not to be picky or anything, I just wanted to say my opinion here, I think the music goes from piano to forte and the only crescendo that is built is the one of our emotions and the emotions of the characters. Maybe there is a crescendo in the music that I don't hear because there are no crescendo in the real opera, just the switch from piano to forte, witch makes a really cool effect. They could have just fiddeled the music around, because in the Carmina Burana cd, you can barely hear the piano part, but in the trailer you can. Oh well, I might as well be wrong.
Oh and to all of you who does not the music language piano means quiet, as in playing really quiet, and forte means strong.)

I know what you mean, Aire. I can't stop watching it either! Now, I've gotten to the point where I'm singing along!
Oh, and also:the more you watch it, the easier it is to load.

I believe that is because once you download it, it stays in your temp folder for a few hours, days, or weeks depending on your setup. Oh, and also:the more you watch it, the easier it is to load.

You download it several times? I just saved it.
This trailer has acctually gotten me to want to go and see the movie. I'm acctually looking forward to it! YEY!! I'm de-virumorized!!
(No offense Virumor.

Yes, O Fortuna... I'd heard this many many times in the past but I never knew the name of the song or the composer so I could download it or buy it or whatever. My break came with, believe it or not, Jackass, The Movie

As to it's applicability to LotR, that's open for interpretation. You could apply the lyrics to Gollum, I suppose. Here's a translation (which is somewhat subjective and a tad too literal, according to the website I got it from), you tell me what you think:
O Fortune,
like the moon
you are changeable,
ever waxing
and waning;
hateful life
first oppresses
and then soothes
as fancy takes it;
poverty
and power
it melts them like ice.
Fate - monstrous
and empty,
you whirling wheel,
you are malevolent,
well-being is vain
and always fades to nothing,
shadowed
and veiled
you plague me too;
now through the game
I bring my bare back
to your villainy.
Fate is against me
in health
and virtue,
driven on
and weighted down,
always enslaved.
So at this hour
without delay
pluck the vibrating strings;
since Fate
strikes down the string man,
everyone weep with me!

I didn't agree with you here at first, Aire. Then I went and listened to the song (my d/led version, not the movie trailer version with the lead vocal thing going on... totally unnecessary) and I see now that you're right. A crescendo is a gradual increase in volume or force, whereas the increase here is sudden and very dramatic. Aire is totally correct... Orff managed to create the illusion of crescendo to the casual listener... but it's really only you're own emotion that's slowly building. Genius!

I wasn't listening to the voices, just the background with the voices as a topping. Anyway when I have watched the trailer I think I am hearing an increase in volume of the background in multiple stages. Or maybe it is just my emotions; but it still reminds me of part of Prokofiev's musical score for the 1938 Alexander Nevsky. In that one the singing is in Russian.
If I have time to night I get out my VHS cassette and maybe actually compare the two.

For anyone who hasn't heard, the official trailer for ROTK will start running in front of NL's Secondhand Lions starting this Friday, and also the official trailer will be available online on Monday Sept. 29th. Just a few more days’

But now to my question!
Okay I have a big question A VERY big question. I was watching TV, today about the new movie Matrix. BUT THERE WAS A SCENE OF LORD OF THE RINGS AND THERE I saw ELROND!!! ELROND HOW HE GAVES TO ARAGORN THE SWORD,AND ARWEN SHE WAS FIGHTING!!
Tell me is this truth?!!! I was daing I was getting so confused when you tell me I got it right and Elrond and Arwen are riding to Aragorn
This cant be true I don’t believe it!!
mhm???? For an answer I give you I give you everything!! ;-))
Im thoroughly confused.
you confused with me Delidea??
i can understand, my english was bad, i try again to ask my question!
Okay:
I saw a short trailer on the TV from RtoK and in this Trailer I saw a scene where Eldrond gives to Aragorn the sword (Narsil or under the new name........??.) and then you see Arwen fighting.
So I was shocked. Why Elrond? He is not coming to Aragron anyway in the book and it woud be horoful to see it in the movie..
OKAY and I can see the trailer now, I have a Quick_Time_Player Downeloaded from a site.
So i hope now somebody understands me better ;_) Sorry for the first post.

*Bangs head against the wall again and again and agian* Why are you doing this to us PJ?!? Why?? WHY???!! What's will be special with Eowyn fighting if Arwen does it too? Elrond instead of his sons is sort of ok-ish, Arwen fighting is not! ELROND HOW HE GAVES TO ARAGORN THE SWORD,AND ARWEN SHE WAS FIGHTING!!

Grondy viewed Alexander Nevsky last night and the music wasn't anywhere near simular to that in Delidia's trailer; just the emotion. So Grondy was all wet again. :elfembar:

The ROTK trailer is out on http://www.lordoftherings.net you will need Quicktime to view it.

Oh yes, I've already seen it a few times! Definitely exciting, and that last shot of Sam gave me goose bumps! Can’t wait!

Yesss! *rubs hands together with glee* I think that this one is going to be the very best!
Not a very good shot of Shelob but I think that she will be creepy enough!

I’m sure that shot wasn't all of her. I think it was just a little bit of a teaser glimpse at a part of her for all of the fans that have so eagerly been waiting for her appearance. I liken that shot to sort of just seeing a person’s hand whose about to come around the corner. I expect that she will be plenty terrifying when we finally get to see her revealed in all her disgusting glory.

I haven't seen the trailer (no quicktime still) but I'd imagine that this is because they probably haven't finished her off yet. Most big FX shots are still being finished right up until they let the movie out of the studios.

Good point, and I’ll bet that this is the case as well. I know that the special effects people are still working around the clock, and that some scenes are still being re-shot. Also, just a little something that kind of ties into this, I saw an excellent screen cap comparison the other day that compares the image of Gandalf on Shadowfax looking out from the walls of Minas Tirith that was used in the bootleg trailer (that ended up being part of the ROTK preview on the TT theatrical DVD) to that same image also used on the official trailer for ROTK, and the difference is like night and day. It really is amazing how far the special effects have come in just the last month alone!
Here’s the link to that comparison for anybody who wants to check it out (please note that you will need to scroll down until you see the appropriate post by Samwise the Brave),

Yeah! It looks like we have a real war now! I really think that this next one will be the best of the three.
