Yesterday I also received two virus laden emails. I didn't recognize the sender's name and the subjects were merely "RE" so I clicked on their subject lines in order to delete them from Outlook Express. I didn't even have chance to read the postBody, let alone, open the attachments, had I been stupid enough to try. The result was my anti-virus program took over, caught, and isolated a couple of polluted files in a quarantine folder. What I'm to do with them next I'm unsure, as these are my first virii. Guess I had better read the book. Wink Smilie

And I'm also not sure if they came to my P-T address or my other one.

Indeed, it is a shame that people of such this sad nature walk the earth at all. I must get maybe 40 plus virus containing emails a day (As I have the postmaster account). Luckily for me I don't run windows but instead Linux - If you didn't know already the viruses can't affect my machine.

I can only say that these people sending the email containing viruses cannot be Tolkien fans, as such fanatics of the athour if having enough time as to waste sending these files would instead be re-reading the LotR or such like...

So far I'm lucky, no viruses in my mail yet. Personaly I think whoevers doing this is pathetic and shold be nailed to the wall but his balls!!! Mad SmilieI hope Jesi comes back soon.
Isn't there a way to trace the emails?

Anti-Virus software??? I don't use it... waste off computer resources Big Smile Smilie as for Linux Big Smile Smilie can't specially written virusses (for linux) touch your system? I thought redhat 7.2?? or something like that had a major security bug which hackers could use for their advantage but still it's saafer then windows.. still have to get a good version and a good version of vmware

A friend of mine was mailed a virus last year. Her virus-checker was old and didn't catch it. Her hard drive died, and so did the disk was saving to at the time. Bad luck and bad timing, since the hard drive and the disk held... HER DISSERTATION. Ugly scene involving tequila followed. Thank god her committee had hard copies of most of the chapters (since she didn't. flake Smile Smilie )

Yes "Upgrading is your Friend." As is backing up on separable media, any files that you would hate to lose. To have everything die while you are doing that back up, is just to horrible to imagine, let alone to have happen on something that important. I think were I to have something that big I would have two backup disks.

Even when I'm entering music on my Commodore I have two working copies, one on the Hard Drive and one on the battery backed Ram Drive. That way if I mess up one file while saving, I can usually resurrect its slightly older namesake. All finished files are then backed on ED (Enhanced Density) 3.5" diskettes, which most PC users misname floppies, having never seen, let alone used a 5.25" or 8" inch floppy in their short lifetimes Big Smile Smilie

ED drives and their diskettes, which hold twice as much data as the now standard HD diskettes, were quickly superceded by the CD's and thus never caught on in the PC world .

On the PC, Zip-Drives and RW-CD's make backing up much easier.

I'm sorry to hear all this about the viruses, really. I don't know what people invented them, but they were *ssh*les, if you know what I mean...
