The following has been sent to us to advertise on this site. Their website is in Polish and as we are unable to translate it fully into English we have taken it on trust from them as a fellow Tolkien fan site that it does not contain anything contrary to our rules.

Niggle's Leaf - International Competition

Organizer: ST WIE’A ( Tower - Tolkien's Association ) Municipal Culture & Arts Centre in Bielawa in co- operation with The Strategy & Town Promotion Department

1. The aim of the competition is to involve Polish and foreign fans of J.R.R Tolkien's literature into common production and into familiarization with the less popular works of that tremendous writer.

2. The competition has a open formula, the age is not taken into consideration.

3. As one knows, Niggle began to create his tree with one leaf being swung by the wind. Creation of the first leaf is the aim of the competition. Tolkien mentioned that Niggle was painting his tree with a big involvement paying a lot of attention to details. So let your leaf be original and unique one. The works can be made in any art technique, any size (paintings, drawings, sculptures, computing graphics ).

The works with the postscript "Niggle's Leaf " should be sent up to 15 December, 2004 at the following address:

S.T. WIEZA
M.O.K.i S.
ul. Piastowska
58-260 Bielawa
POLAND

contact: Elek Bregalad fone+48 74 83 33 007 e-mail: tolkfolk@tolkfolk.pl

The date of the post seal is taken into consideration.

The results of the competition will be announced on 3 January, 2005 during TOLK FOLK Event on the occasion of J.R.R.Tolkien's birthday.

4. Jury chosen from the members of the Tolkien's Association, mass media editors end artists will award the main prize of 150 Euro and three honorable of 50 Euro.

The main prize is funded by The Strategy & Town Promotion Department.

The honorable is founded by Municipal Culture & Arts Centre in Bielawa.

The prizes will be transferred to winners' saving accounts within 10 days
after the competition completion.

I don't think you need worry, Vee, given that the competition is administrated by the city council in Bielawa, there is unlikely to be much swearing etc.,etc. Tongue Smilie Also the lack of Polish speaking members to translate also removes the risk of anyone to understand enough to get offended anyways!

Where is Bielawa anyway? I know three Polish girls, one in Wroclaw(Breslau), one in Krakow and one in Gdansk(Danzig).. Hmm.. Don't know if any of them are Tolkienites though.. Big Smile Smilie
I see you hiding there, GrevRev! Come out! I've missed your posts.
