I hate the blue background. It's overly cheerful, as though it's trying to force me into a relaxed state of mind and accept it as the only marketed form of typing software available. Anyway, this may not even get any responses, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I might be able to download some skins to change the color scheme. It would be even better if you could suggest a different program that I could purchase or download.
If not, then I will be scouring the city-side - I know what I said! - in search of the oldest functioning typewriter that I can find. That is, assuming that I can afford it. I have no idea how much antique typewriters cost. Or where I could get ink, or what kind of paper would be compatible. Anyway, it will be a nice change not to be blinded while I write, whether it is done by a computer screen or my own barely-legible handwriting.
Just as an interesting side note, Dave King of the band Flogging Molly writes all of his songs on a typewriter that was manufactured before 1920. I thought that that was interesting, although I can't remember where I read it. It may not be true.

My 19" CRT monitor, (ca 2000) hates white screens and turns itself off a few seconds after encountering them. Not knowing how to get around this problem; I ordered a whole new Dell computer with a flat screen monitor. My Windows 98 is kinda passe now too, so I'm getting Vista with a back door to XP. This is all because my finger gets sore having to punch the on/off button at least twice every time the nasty white background rears its ugly head.

I myself dislike vista

I didn't get Vista, though my new computer is ready for it; I decided to wait for the bug removal. Until then, I'm using XP which works pretty good.
