Thread: (Two) Hobbit movies

Bottom of Page    Message Board > The Hobbit (Movie) > (Two) Hobbit movies
I just read somewhere that the script writers are not talking about two movies but about one so i hope it will be an good one.
Where did you read that? I thought it was kind of commonly accepted that there were going to be two movies.

i get mail from the Hobbit site which gets the news as the first and i read that Del Toro was interviewed and said something like this: ''Everyone isn't talking about two movies anymore it is just only one movie so we didn't said to each other lets make one movie but we al just thought one movie was better'' .

i just deleted the mail some time ago so i can't tell where it was coming from as soon as i get another one i will post it.
So it is probably going to be one movie.
hmm. Very interesting...

I really don't care either way. As long as they don't try to squeeze some of their 2nd movie ideas into the one. If they have one, they need it to be just 'The Hobbit.'
Del Toro said at one point that they just thought of the whole thing as one long movie, and that everyone who was working on it just referred to the two movies as "the movie". That's probably what you're thinking of.
He also said, however, that they wouldn't make a second movie if there "wasn't a second movie" (i.e. if they couldn't come up with a good story that stayed true to LOTR, etc.).
You know..I don't mind. I originally thought that they would make just The Hobbit. Making two movies is a lot of work and money. Still, it would be nice to have a movie that explains the gap in between The Hobbit and the series. If they only make one, it better be really good. A lot of fans are going to wait and there is no room for mistakes.
I think I would be ok with only one movie as long as they stay true to the book and don't throw extra stuff in 'The Hobbit'. A second movie would be amazing! But it is a big financial deal so i could understand if they didn't end up doing it. But we can always hope that there is a second one!!!! <img src='/images/smileys/bigsmile.gif' border='0' alt='Big Smile Smilie' />
I'm just getting tired of waiting for it...I need my Hobbit fix...!
No kidding Zardoz, they should get on with releasing Bilbo's casting already to reassure us the films are actually being made.

HI all glad to be here and always a fan of LOTR. I wondering if there is any one who has a copy of the movie with Bilbo - not the animated - but the one with current Bilbo. It is the first The Hobbit and I know there has been trouble with it but there has to be someone who taped it and it willing to sell copies - or even let me download . I soooo want to see it and it would complete my set - I got the extended Trilogy and this is all that is missing

Great site everyone and so glad to be here
O saw a show with Peter Jackason today and he says it will be 2 parts. He lost a lot of weight - didn't he?

I'm not really sure what you're talking about, to be honest. There have been six movies based on Tolkien's works so far. The first three (The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Return of the King) were the animated ones. The other three were, of course, PJ's trilogy. The animated Hobbit is the only Hobbit movie that has been made so far. If by "current Bilbo" you mean the actor Ian Holm, you may have been thinking of the BBC's radio adaptation of LotR, in which Ian Holm played [i:1t58buxb]Frodo[/i:1t58buxb]. I don't know if that's what you were thinking of, but it's the closest thing that comes to mind.
