HMMPH! Yes, well,...the Gnostics INVENTED Gnosis :P . But "Channeling" is another thing altogether <img src='/images/smileys/wink.gif' border='0' alt='Wink Smilie' /> .

Oh GB - I've been looking for you. Irrespective of my uncertain feelings for you, I'm certain you need curing from your [i:1u2al4yy]sad malaise[/i:1u2al4yy]... Hey! Don't run off on me!
Wasn't quite sure where to stick this so here will do. Off Yahoo news. Billy Boyd wants a role in TH. 'But even though the film takes place before his Lord of the Rings character was even born, Boyd's keen to convince producer Peter Jackson to allow him to appear in another guise. He says, "The story of The Hobbit happens 60 years before Lord of the Rings, so all the Hobbits in Lord of the Rings - Sam, Pippin, Merry and Frodo - aren't born. Knowing Pete, and if we're all free, we might show up as each other's fathers or in a quick scene."
That'd need lots of make-up. I don't like the idea anyway, not a fan of actors doing more than one role in the same film/story, and I think that applies here :P
I'm guessing the works dried up for him and he's looking for a favour from PJ.
Poor Pippin! Still can't catch a break, and losing out to Merry, who has had more juicy roles since LotR than you can shake a stick at. [b:1qpaa2k5]GB[/b:1qpaa2k5]

Please no. Boyd seemed a fairly good actor but any character he portrayed would simply be 'Pippin's other role'. It'd be almost as bad as casting someone already associated with another franchise - like Daniel Radcliffe - in TH. I wish Mr. Boyd all the best but I [i:tdt5z7s2]really[/i:tdt5z7s2] hope this doesn't happen.
I think we must remember that the film needs to make a profit, and as the fan base of the LotR Movies is extremely broad (including more who haven't read it than have, I'm guessing), as many of the old cast should be included as possible, and in whatever way it can be managed. Bilbo goes on an adventure to the Lonely Mountain where lies a dragon on his hoard. There is our Adaptation. From there on anything goes. The TH Movie(s) need to make a profit - and for that to happen, we must not trust Tolkien's story too far - too rissssky, gollum-gollum... Also we must add as many 'fresh' ideas as possible. Readers won't want to see the same old same old, and non-readers won't know the difference. (gollum-gollum...)
Though his tone in his last post on this Thread was light and friendly, I find Odo's basic point quite a valid one. It's a shame that such a humorous approach should have brought down up him (and the other Rushock Bog Bankses) the odium he (they) received.
What odium? :? [b:1hj9c7iu]GB[/b:1hj9c7iu]

(Plus it needs a romantic saga of course, who would mind if they threw one of those in?) Who would disagree with Odo? He makes a very valid point.

Odo's comment smells like sarcasm :geek:
What a scurrilous thing to say about poor departed Odo. Btw I think Odo's right. What he failed to add (and I have discussed the matter with him) is that he also thinks PJ should change Bilbo into a brownie, Smaug into a Grendel-like monster, and Gandalf into a beautiful witch who, at the end, falls in love with Bilbo, now renamed Ricko. At the end of the movie he finds out he was not really a brownie, but a fosterling, actually the son of the Elvish king. The movie will be called something like: Ricko and the White Council, or something like that. (Actually, I think I'd probably like that movie). NB Odo would have replied himself, but he suffers from odiumophobia nowadays.
I think Odo can be a bit [i:1k82i7y7]too [/i:1k82i7y7]obvious at times:- Jane
Oh Jane, you came back. Odo has mentioned you. I hope you'll keep visiting. You seem a nice lady. You must never mind GP - most of us here are [i:o1atiads]genuinely[/i:o1atiads] friendly. Hopefully, you won't be scared off again this time (that's the rumour I heard --- from Odo! :? )
I don't know which depresses me more- what I suspect PJ will do to TH or what some supposed fans actually want to see him doing to it. I may have to become the worlds first Cinema terrorist at this rate!
