Good Afternoon esteemed Tolkien peeps. Just wondering if you guys have seen the Desolation of Smaug trailer in Lego form yet? What did you think of it? I must confessed I laughed....I thought it was great.

Hi Aylee. Ive seen all of the lego Tolkien movies and trailers for the games and love them all.

I think the best scene is in the trailer for The Lord of The Rings lego game featuring Gandalf confronting Durin's bane on the Bridge of Khazadum.  It is truly wonderful, as is The Desolation Of Smaug trailer.

Great post by the way.

Sorry for the absence, kept meaning to reply to this thread but....life and such. But becaue Tolkien is my life, I of course own most of the ME games, including Lego LOTR.

Now, as awesome as it is playing Tolkien characters in lego form, I was pretty disappointed with this game. The films are of course a cut, distorted, and shorter look at the books. The game is an even more cut, distorted, and shorter look at the movies. Not even the extended editions, either.

I understand it's a kid's game and needs to be short and sweet, so I let it slide. But wow, you don't actually play through AT LEAST 1/3 of the movie. If not 2/3. And seeing as how it's a video game and not a movie, I actually thought you'd being play through, well....all of it. Now if it were a few things here and there that were cutscenes or whatever it would've been a straight up fun translation of LOTR. But it was so much more. On top of that, the Star Wars/Harry Potter Lego games were actually pretty well played out, whereas this wasn't. So I felt pretty let down and, though I really try not to think this about anything, thought this was just a cash grab at the Tolkien name.

Thus, I'm a little hesitant for The Hobbit. But on the other hand I love anything Tolkien...
