That movie was a classic! I watched it every day when I was little. It's just so, well, magical!
And if you squint you can see her flying wires, but that was back before computer enhancement, so the great music makes up for it. I liked that version much better than Uncle Walt's animated version.
Mary Martin's Peter Pan is my all time favorite Peter Pan movie! I had the movie when I was very young, and I used to watch it almost every day! But, unfortunately, I watched it so many times that it ruined the tape... Sad Smilie My mother is planning on ordering it soon, though, so I may yet be able to own it once again! Whoopee!!! Big Smile Smilie
I remember this movie well. We used to watch it every year on TV. Then the newer versions started coming out, one with Sandy Duncan as Peter, and then Mia Farrow. Although Mary Martin is classic, I liked Mia better for a stage Peter. The newer version with live actors is, I think, even better still.

Related to this somewhat, does anyone recall the old TV show "Pixanne"? When I lived in New Jersey as a kid, it used to be on very early in the morning. I used to get up and faithfully watch it every day I could. I never saw any wires and believed she could really fly! But I was only 5 or 6 then.
hmmm to be quite honest, my favourite Peter Pan movie is Hook, with Robin Williams, i tihnk its great
Sorry, before my time. All I remember from childhood is when her son got shot. But at least his maid was hot (and still is, actually.) Elf Sticking Tounge Out Smilie
Hey how about Steven Spielberg's take on the Neverland fantasy, "Hook." The cast they picked was excellent, Robin Williams (as a grown up Peter Pan) and Dustin Hoffman (As the one and only, Captain James Hook!)

I remember watching 'Hook' when it was a new release back in '91. I was just a child then but it was on TV a few nights back and it brought back memories, and i still found it quite entertaining, which says a lot right there, because i find that usually older movies i loved as a kiddie can't even come close to holding my interest anymore.

I should have read Elessar's quote a few posts above mine 1st i guess...because i totally agree with it!

Yes, Hook was good and it pulled at the heart-strings.
I also liked Hook but I also liked : FINDING NEVER-LAND a good story too about Peter Pan ,though the story is different and new
I have passed on that movie when I have seen it offered on cable; have I made a mistake? Do you recommend I watch it? I usually doen't like old tales dressed up in modern clothing.

I've never seen Finding Never-Land, is that the one starring Johnny Depp? Would u mind explaining the plot of that story to me? i thought it was about the life of the author, whom created the whole Peter Pan fantasy, living with a sick woman and her children, am i wrong?

But isn't that basically what "Hook" is too? I can agree with you there and think most modern made movies based on classic fairy tales, don't always hit their mark, but some of them can acheive higher than their expectations.

I'm sorry T’rin Turambar..yes that is what the film is all about ,but I think it has a resemblance to Hook because of the imagination and believing in a fantasy person :Peter Pan that is..and to you Grondy Smile Smilie I do recommend it !
