The DVD arrived last week and I watched it the other night. Besides being dark in subject matter, it was dark on the screen; their candles and torches during all those night-time wanderings didn't provide much visual contrast: I found myself squinting a lot.
Still it mostly followed the book, so I'm still satisfied with the movie.
I still can't see how they will be able to cram book seven into just one movie and still make the story hang together.
