Laurelindhe ilmarin - there are many, many threads in various Message Boards discussing the pros and cons of the films. Please feel free to add your own comments to them. They can get a bit heated sometimes but hey - that's life. Another perspective is always welcome.

Ah, and thank goodness!

Honestly, I think Eowyn scored when she found Faramir-not only a man of good breeding and impeccable manners, but also of integrity and strength of character-lucky girl! Also, she would need a man of patience and tolerance such as Faramir-her thick-headed stubborness would have been an obstacle for any chap!

As I have said on many occasions within PT, Faramir is my favourite character in the books. PJ did not do him justice.

Yes. Most definitely he was overshadowed by Aragorn in the movies, I think. But do you think the decision to make Faramir's character lust after the ring a good one? And do you think David Wenham portrayed Faramir properly? How about Miranda Otto's portrayal of Eowyn? Personally, David did a great job, but as for Miranda... Rolling Eyes Smilie

Er.... no and no.

DW did a reasonable job considering the script he had but he wasn't 'Faramir' enough. No nobility, just a slightly browbeaten younger son. Miranda as Eowyn was just too... wet.

Good word! Wet! Sopping, wouldn't you say? Yes, David's Faramir was not noble enough, you called it. He could have done with a bit less of the "I am not Boromir" act, also. But alas that all things are not perfect...

I'm almost positive the romance between E’wyn and Faramir will be included in the Extended Edition RotK DVD's added 40 minutes, but I doubt if Gh’n-buri-Gh’n will be, for I don't remember Merry's staring at the rows of P’kel-men leading out of Dunharrow. My take on G-b-G is that he's a direct decendent of the P’kel-men.

Agreed - their tale is one of sadness with a touch of hope that they do survive somewhere, hidden, sheltered and safe and without them Minis Tirith may well have fallen to the evil of Sauron.

Just as well that Gh’n-buri-Gh’n didn't get to be in the movie, they would have ruined him as well. Poor Faramir, poor Eowyn, at least we know where we can find how they really are: the books the books the books Smile Smilie

I agree, Amarie-they would have done to GBG what they did to Prince Imrahil-just a mere mention of his name in TTT and one scene in ROTK where his army is shown. Tragic.

When i saw the movie I was not finished with the book yet so i knew nothing of the eowyn/faramir romance. Me and my friend both noticed, at the crowning of aragorn scene, that they happened to be standing next to each other... We just guessed that maybe eowyn and faramir ended up together!! When i finished the book i was pleased to find out that it was true!! just a lucky guess though!

I feel bad for faramir because eowyn is just obsessed with aragorn, well not anymore, but still just to know that must be horrible to live with, because if she had have ended up with aragorn (which would have never happened, because aragorn is way too in love with arwen) she would have never even think of being with faramir. Aragorn blinded her. well did faramir know that she was really into aragorn before?

Yo! HH05 - good to see you.

I don't feel sorry for Faramir. He knew she had a crush on Aragorn (who wouldn't) but after she had proved to herself that she was strong (The WitchKing) and things weren't looking quite as bad as thay had she let go of that crush and found love with someone who was as noble as Aragorn. By that time she was no longer seeking escape from the cage that her life had become.

Even Aragorn recognised it for a crush, thankfully.

ahhh yes now i remember... okay i have a new understanding! haha! If aragorn is strong and noble and eowyn was drawn to him, but he kinda rejected her, then in her eyes faramir must be just as strong and noble as aragorn if not more because she loves him more then she ever loved aragorn!! you have opened my eyes vee... haha
