I still cannot do it. Will I be trapped forever in chat limbo

Should be OK, one of our moderators set the channel to a in-correct mode.
I will just have to keep on trying then. though I have not suceeded yet hopefully I will.
I know what you mean Asteroth and it's far better chatting in chat than through the forums..we have alot to discuss anyway and doing it through the forums is too slow.
Strange. I tried Mirc and I can get onto other chat rooms but when I go for Sorcery it won't let me in. 
The IRC network we use has a global ban on the Freeserve ISP I believe. Plastic is a good one to ask about this as he has experienced it first hand.
I still experience it first hand as I forgot to log in for a long time, and now I'm stuck with it. There was a way round it as I remember, but I can't for the life of me remember how I did it...
When I was with Freeserve and fell under ther ban, the mods on Sorcery were able to sort out a backdoor for me to get in with. It meant I had to use my username all the time and have a password (which meant a little bit of messing around every time I wanted to chat), and in the end everything worked okay for me.
Unfortunately I cannot remember how I went about doing it. I think I followed some of the links from NickServ. The address is buried somewhere in my old PC so I don't have it handy just at the moment.

For once I don't have any problems with the chat.

Too true, I'm afraid. Though one time it was my own mistake, I opened my pm in the wrong window.
