I'm dressed up as lil red riding hood, tramp style, but its still cute. Although i did get a lil carried away with the tulle so now i can't bend over without flashing everyone.....

Simply because we copy it from the United states , I don't think it will be a tradition in Norway though, it's more that kids can dress up and get lo's of candies

Ah, so it was like I suspected, americanisation... but I thought perhaps it had its roots in some ancient Nordic rites. But apparently not.

I got together a great medieval king costume that I wore on Nov. 1. I went to a party as Charlemagne.
Maybe, but I know that something similar is done by certain Celtic peoples. I think it's in Ireland, in the small villages where they have kept old superstitions, that people will dress up in costumes on All Hallow's Eve, and process through the village with the intention of scaring away the evil spirits.
At least, I think it's Ireland, correct me if I'm wrong please. *walks away thinking aloud, "Hmm, could be Wales, or maybe Scotland?"*
