Lay down
Your sweet and weary head
Night is falling
You have come to journey's end
Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across a distant shore
Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away

Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home
And all will turn
To silver-glass
A light on the water
All souls pass

Hope fades
Until the world of night
Through shadows' falling
Out of memory and time
Don't say
We have come now to the end
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again

And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home
And all will turn
To silver-glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the West

a pass between mountain peaks

guess that word.
What the heck is VSS!
a pass between mountain peaks

hmmmm....i was loking it up after grondy's incorrect guess...
1. Write the name: ROBERT.
2. Shift the vowels up and to the left, so they are above the letters they follow.

3. Substitute the letters using the alphabet provided above. Notice there are two forms for the letter R. One is for the R sound as in RED. The other is for the R sound as in CAR. The name ROBERT starts with the R-as-in-RED sound and near its end it has the R-as-in-CAR sound.

4. Here's the text notation. I find it useful to use a plain text representation of the characters when I'm explaining things via email. The underscores at the beginning and end show where the baseline is.

O E
_ R B R T _
5. All the examples on this page are use the Quenya style, but here's the text notation for Sindarin (not shown in calligraphy) so you can see how the vowel positions shift to the right.

O E
_ R B R T _

I happen to have all the ingridients except the soda, so sometime in the near future I may go ahead and try it, leaving out the sugar and using Diet 7UP in place of the soda.
Um... I believe a pass between mountains, if not a pass, is a cleft, as the Rainbow Cleft. On to my last c&p, which was a link, so I'll provide it in that form. Be warned it's political so don't click unless you want to read it. On the other hand, we had someone named V join with a highly alliterative post centered on that letter today. Anway, the c&p:

is that you Mor in that picture under your name??? doesnt look 30 to me????

anyway the purpose of this thread

well when i put Ctrl + v theres nothing so i havnt copied a thing yet
31, actually, and yes it's me -- literally half my life ago. Senior picture, which were taken the summer before senior year. Which puts it either one or two months before my 16th birthday; if it wasn't half my life ago it's only off by a matter of weeks.

And the last thing I copied was...

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. "
But, could you imagine a female Vala smithying, or prophecying and foretelling dooms and deaths?

>>just a slightly chauvinistic remark from the Musings about the Ainur thread.
We officially need this as a smiley if I'm copying it:

And now we have a point to the thread: to see whether the last thing I copied was a link to the Erus Thoughts thread or a quotation of myself quoting the Ainulindale. "The World Wonders.... "

Oops, apparently it was neither; it was a copy of the words I added to my post in Musings on the Ainur to make it more than a one liner, then cut to see if it would still head page two without them (it did.) Isn't it wonderful how I have so many profoundly sage things to say worthy of quotation? Elf Rolling Eyes Smilie And does anyone else want to type "elfroleplay?" Though, sadly, roleplaying doesn't mean quite what it used; everyone seems to think you need a computer now....

I am finishing a project on Dostoyevksy's "Crime and Punishment"...oy. I'll be glad to be done with that one! But yeah, I couldn't remember how to spell all the names, so I went to sparknotes and copy/paste! Just don't let my english teacher know I even opened sparknotes! She would fry me!

Sadly, I'm becoming quite the fantasy computer geek of late, and, worst of all, my computer knowledge is about 20 years out of date. Though I CAN still right a simple BASICA program that will make a PC literally shriek until someone hits Ctrl C, I just need a DOS shell to run it. ;-p

Same here Moambar; however, I have installed VICE which lets me emulate my Commodore 64 or 128 on my PC in a Window, so I can program in MS Basic 2.0 or 7.0 depending which Commodore mode I wish to use. VICE uses both .d81 and .d64 virtual disk drives.

In the end it is revealed that John Shooter (Turturro) is actually a personality of a schizophrenic Mort Rainey (Depp). In the end, Shooter overwhelmed him, becoming the dominant personality, essentially destroying Mort. It is clear that Shooter pushed Rainey to correct his life, not the story, to take his revenge and kill his wife, Amy (Bello), whom he was currently going through a divorce with. After being confronted, Shooter took control of Rainey's body as Mort Rainey was unable to live with what Shooter had done on his behalf and performed a sort of 'mental suicide', as was hinted to by Shooter (now played by Depp) with the comment of "Now I never put a hand on him, Misses, I swear, he took the coward's way out." A fight ensued between the two, ending with Amy laying behind the house in the garden, wounded, unable to flee. Ted (Hutton) arrives, lured behind the house by Amy's screams. Shooter (Depp) kills both Amy and Ted with a shovel. Before he kills Amy, as he advances upon her, he recites the true ending of "Secret Window", the one he wanted Mort Rainey to replace with the 'ruined ending' Mort wrote. "I know I can do it,' Todd Downey said, helping himself to another ear of corn from the steaming bowl. 'I'm sure that in time, every bit of her will be gone, and her death will be a mystery, even to me." He goes into town to shop, where the locals become unnerved by his presence, either tensing up or fleeing from the store. Later the Sheriff arrives at "Rainey's" cabin, discovering masses of corn in the kitchen. Rainey/Shooter is upstairs at the desk, now speaking in a confident manner, void of his Mississippi accent. The Sheriff tells 'Rainey' to stay out of town, they know what he did and that as soon as they found the bodies they could tie it to him. Rainey/Shooter agrees to shop out of town, grinning at the Sheriff as he states that the ending is the only thing that matters "This one's very good, this one's perfect." The last scenes are a tightly packed row of corns, growing in Amy's garden, now Amy and Ted's grave site, and Shooter/Rainey biting into an ear of corn.
