Ok, its the SARATI, the writing system invented by R’mil in the Age of the Trees, Year ... Not many people know about them but they are displayed on the site [url=http://hem.passagen.se/mansb/at/sarati.htm] here

Quote:
R’mil of Valinor created the first writing system of Arda in the Valian Year 1179. Though it has often been called ’R’mil’s Tengwar’, the real name of the writing system was Sarati (each letter being a sarat).

Well I never would have guessed it. I think that you are the 2nd person to beat everyone in Eyespy since it was started.

That was a good question. You can start a new one if you want, or you can pass it to someone else.

Good job again there Arco! Wink Smilie
I think I'll pass it on; I'm getting a little tired here. Tongue Smilie
Sarati? *kicks self* I should have guessed that one.
Well, it's not like there were many clues pointing to the Sarati...It all depends on the questions ppl ask. Smile Smilie
I'll start another one. Happy Elf Smilie

Quote:
#6: Does the 'A' refer to the first letter of his first name?
Probably, and that shouldn't count as a guess, as it should be the first letter in the name which was commonly in use, rather than 'G' for 'Gamgee, Sam'.

But we should wait and let Val give the real answer to your question.
#5 Was he a Took? Yes

#6: Does the 'A' refer to the first letter of his first name? Yes
#7 Was he the grandfather of both Perigrin Took and Meriadoc Brandybuck?

#8 Was he or his namesake born in S.R. 1328? Yep, you've found him Grondy.
#9 Then his name is Adelard Took from Appendix C to LotR. As a legacy from Bilbo in FotR, he received a labeled umbrella in remembrance of all those he borrowed from Bilbo and never returned.

Okay, try this one:
