How about H?

And I'll begin with E as always

Could there possibly be an A?

Yes, that's three Rs for Mellie, one O for Ithil, a pair of Es for Elen, and one A for Rivendellelf.
So it now reads:
_ R E _ _ A R / _ O _ _ E R
Sorry, Nary an H.

So it now reads:
_ R E _ _ A R / _ O _ _ E R
Sorry, Nary an H.

Any G's?

Yes, that's three Rs for Mellie, one O for Ithil, a pair of Es for Elen, one A for Rivendellelf, and two Gs for Arco who also knows what it is.
So it now reads:
_ R E _ G A R / _ O _ G E R
Sorry, Nary an H.

So it now reads:
_ R E _ G A R / _ O _ G E R
Sorry, Nary an H.
I'm confused. is there a B?

why need a B when you know the answer itz Fredegar Bolger am i right Grondy
that's what I thought of, but there's the reason for my confusion: according to Grondy's riddle, it could only be Fredgar Bolger, and as I wasn't quite sure if there's another similar name I went on guessing.

hmmm well we will have to sit back and wait for dear ole grondy to say which Bolger it is i havnt found any different

Obviously it is Fredgar Bolger and the only other Fredgar I know was in the Godfather and the only other Bolger I know was a dancer named Ray and he also wasn't a Tolkien character, so this must be Fredgar (aka Fatty) Bolger.
