One word puzzles are quite hard, especially when the are obscure words. It took me almost forever to find the word in Tolkien's writings as it is usually paired with 'Gwaith-I-' = "people of the" Mirdain, the jewel-smiths, who lived in Eregion and were almost as famous as F’anor.
Indeed it is M’rdain, and I thought I'd chuck in a single word as we all need a challenge at some point or another, refreshes the knowledge
