Nice avatar: An elven ranger out hunting; who's the horse in the background? Reminds me of my desktop wallpaper: 'Tuor' by Eiszmann’can you see the two cloaked elves hiding behind the central tree?
Anyway, Fionw’ Urion has the correct answer and the Pseudo-Silmaril.
What was the capitol of Rohan
Anyway, Fionw’ Urion has the correct answer and the Pseudo-Silmaril.
What was the capitol of Rohan
Edoras? The only other place names in Rohan that I know are Helm's Deep and Aldburg - and they don't seem very "capitalish" to me.
I don't recognize Aldburg unless it is another name for Dunharrow, but Edoras is the correct answer, so Mungo gets the pretty bauble.
Why was N’menor remembered as Mar-nu-Falmar
Why was N’menor remembered as Mar-nu-Falmar
It was called that after it's destruction. it means 'home under the waves'
The horse in the background is his own, I'll try and find its name.
Lemaly Orangeflower has the correct answer and the Pseudo-Silmaril.
Who was the Lady of the Stars
Who was the Lady of the Stars
Varda?
We need one of those differentiation pages, since Elenwe wife of Turgon seems like she should qualify as well. As a title both Elenwe and Elent’ri could translate thus, but I'm sure you're right. ;-p
Varda was what I wanted, so Etharion gets the pretty bauble.
Which famous hobbit compiled the 'Herblore of the Shire', the 'Reckoning of Years' and the treatise 'Old Words and Names in the Shire'

Hurm. I'll say Merry.
You get the Pseudo-Silmaril, Morambar.
Where was Bilbo heading when he passed the Old Took's record for longevity
Where was Bilbo heading when he passed the Old Took's record for longevity
Yea! Score another one for 50/50 gambles! Thanks, I'm PMing you a question about clarifying the new one.
Mithlond, the Gray Havens.
Fionw’ Urion has the answer I wanted, though as Morambar PMed, he was ultimately on the way to Valinor. Anyway, Fionw’ Urion gets the Pseudo-Silmaril.
How many fir trees were inhabited by fifteen birds, as heard by Bilbo in a song
How many fir trees were inhabited by fifteen birds, as heard by Bilbo in a song
That would be five firtrees. Thank goodness for the eagles.
You're welcome, Fionw’!
Well, Elenw’ translates to star maiden and Elent’ri means star queen, or Queen of the Stars. So Elenw’ does not fit the title. Both Queen of the Stars and Lady of the Stars are titles are used on Varda.

Another pretty bauble to Mungo for the correct answer.
What officials acted as the police in the Shire
What officials acted as the police in the Shire
The Shirriffs.
Fionw’ Urion gets the Pseudo-Silmaril for the correct answer, which he spelled correctly too.
Who always acted as look-out for Thorin's Company
Who always acted as look-out for Thorin's Company
I think that was Bilbo ..the hobbitbut later he was replaced by two of the dwarf.s because he always got them into troubble ( Their names in norwegian are :Kili and Fili .Im not sure if thats their proper name in english)
He could also be thinking of Balin as Thorin's look-out man:
Quote:
"He crept still nearer, and suddenly he saw peering between two big boulders a head with a red hood on: it was Balin doing look-out."
"He crept still nearer, and suddenly he saw peering between two big boulders a head with a red hood on: it was Balin doing look-out."
Balin is who I was after, so Mungo gets the pretty bauble.

What mountain range marked the Western boundary of Mordor
What mountain range marked the Western boundary of Mordor
I think that's the Shadow Mountains. I'm not sure, I am probably wrong. My copy of "The Return of the King" is missing.
Yes or it's other name Ephel D’ath (you know everytime i look on this thread another person has already answered it so i cant get a word in??)
Fionw’ Urion gets the pretty buable for the correct answer.

Where did Strider and the hobbits sleep in 'The Prancing Pony'
Where did Strider and the hobbits sleep in 'The Prancing Pony'
Well they intended to sleep in the hobbit rooms, on ground floor.
Yes, that had been their intention, but where did they actually sleep that night?
IIRC they slept next door, but I may be confusing them with a similar incident involving Perrin and Faile.
i thought they slept in one of the rooms meant for men but i dont know i relly need to read lotr again
Hint: The answer is in the Book One chapter entitled 'Strider'.
Ah yes! I remember now. Aragorn told them that it was unsafe to stay in the hobbit rooms, cause the windows were so close to the ground(and he was right), so they all spent the night in the parlour, the room where they ate and stuff at theyr arrival. Its a bit down the hall from the Common Room.
Congrats; sounds good to me (you know I never do look ups; takes all the fun out of it.) That also rings a bell, but, poor Hobbits, all they got was each other and a crusted over Ranger instead of Moiraine fresh from the bath in a robe running a brush through her long dark hair. *sighs wistfully.*
And on that note....
